Truly believing in God - Daily Grain

🌾 On the surface, it looks as though all you have to say is, “I believe,” and you will be saved. But notice, the apostles taught the people all the things they were commanded to teach and observe. For three years, Christ taught them what they should teach and taught them how to be teachers. The apostles were taught that to believe is to obey. The apostles were also taught how to obey.

You must keep Christ’s words in order to never see death, Jesus says. His words are not hard to keep or burdensome. “If you believe in Me, the works that I do you shall do also,” Jesus said. What kind of works did Jesus do?  He did good works and He instructed His disciples to do the same. Yes, doing good works is how you glorify the Father.

The Bible says that the devil and his demons believe, but they do not obey. They are not doers of the word, but merely hearers who remain deluded.  So, to say you believe, is to say you obey and are doing the deeds that Jesus did by serving others daily for the glory of God.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:16

Teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Matthew 28:20

A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.

Luke 6:40

He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

John 3:36

Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he will never see death.

John 8:51

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.

1 John 5:3

Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.

John 14:12

Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. 22 You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected.

James 2:19, 22
