The Last Days

There are many Scriptures in God’s word that refer to the “last days.” Is it possible to know when these days will occur? Would God, who is all-knowing and who knows the beginning from the end, leave His people—His chosen ones—in ignorance, whomever they may be? Or would He tell them about the last days so that they could be spiritually prepared for what is soon to come (Amos 3:7; John 16:13)?

In the last days, some people will mock and scoff at the truth because they have no intention of living or even beginning to live a holy life for the Lord (Psalm 53:1).

The Bible also says that people will return to the Lord in the latter days (last days) and listen to His voice (God’s word) when the distress of the last days comes upon them (Deut. 4:29-31). He also mentions what will happen to Jacob’s people (the 12 tribes of Israel) in the last days (Gen. 49:1).

Among other things, Jesus prophesied that the coming of the Son of Man would be like the days of Noah (Matt. 24:37). What were those days like? The earth was corrupt in God’s sight; the earth was filled with violence (Gen. 6:11). The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of man’s heart was evil (selfish) continually (Gen. 6:5). Noah alone was found to be righteous (caring) at that time (Gen. 7:1).

To live a holy life, we must change. The old life must die (Rom. 8:13; Gal. 5:24). We must grow in Christ, clothe ourselves with Christ and live as Jesus Christ gave us example to live. We must become doers of God’s word (James 1:22).

We cannot do God’s word and live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord, unless we study His word continually to show ourselves approved to God (2 Tim. 2:15, King James Version). We are not to remain fools in regard to what God’s Will is (Eph. 5:17; Rom. 12:2). We are to do God’s Will daily in every facet of our lives with all our heart, mind, soul and strength (Luke 10:27; Jer. 10:23; Matt. 7:21; 6:10; Luke 8:21; 1 Peter 2:14; 4:2-6).

God is distinguishing between the sheep (the doers of God’s word) and the goats (those who know they should be doing good, but won’t start) (Jer. 16:12; Matt. 25:33-46). The good fish are now being sorted in the net. God is now determining who will serve Him by serving others and who will not (Mal. 3:18). He is recording the names of those who become doers of the Lord’s word (Ex. 32:33; Rev. 3:5). He is also recording names of all those who started to live the holy life but lost interest and fell away (Jer. 17:13).

Jesus’ words, which He spoke to the world, will judge us when He returns (John 12:47-50). Did we keep His words and, by doing so, do the Will of the Father (John 8:51; Matt. 7:21; 1 John 2:17)? Or did we just read His word (James 1:22; Acts 3:23).

Now all we are waiting for is the Lord to say, “On with the show.” Then He will fulfill all of His end-time prophesies.

Are you ready? Are you getting ready? Or will you fulfill the Scriptures of those who won’t believe, those who mock God’s word and His truth? We all are fulfilling Scripture daily. The wicked are fulfilling the Scriptures of the wicked and the righteous are fulfilling the Scriptures of the righteous. Study God’s word daily by subject so that you will fulfill the right Scriptures, and do God’s Will daily as well (Rom. 12:2; Prov. 14:9; 2 Peter 3:3; Jude 18-21).
