We have provided additional resources under each video, and you will find several lists of God’s names in the Appendixes of the Companion Bible by E.W. Bullinger as well. We suggest starting with Appendix 4 and Appendix 98. It will be an eye-opening experience, drawing you closer to God and giving your relationship with Him more depth and meaning than ever before. *Please note there are many configurations of God’s names and they can be pronounced in a variety of ways. We looked to the Hebrew pronunciation for this feature. We have used Yahweh in place of the more common Jehovah, because Jehovah is an incorrect translation of the name YHVH (YHWH). A sixteenth-century German translator used the vowels of Adonai, from ancient Jewish texts, because they were under the consonants of YHVH. By doing this he came up with the incorrect name of Jehovah (YaHoVaH) which then spread throughout Europe. You can also refer to the Jewish Encyclopedia, where it shows Jehovah is a mispronunciation of the Hebrew name of God, Yahweh.

- Rejoice in One Another's Blessings | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search Rejoice in One Another's Blessings Proverbs 8:32 says, “Blessed are they who keep My Ways.” It is wonderful how this righteous Way of life brings many blessings from God. This verse in Proverbs is a promise that will be fulfilled by God when we live to please Him continually. John 10:10 says that Jesus Christ came so that we might have life and have it abundantly. Yes, He came to give us the truth on how to live each day. By living His Way, we are blessed abundantly. As we live this special Way every day, different areas of our nature will pop up that we will need to overcome. In Galatians 5:19-21, it describes our human nature. In this article, I will not list all the deeds of the flesh, but rather point out two that each one of us needs to be aware of and overcome. These two deeds of the flesh are jealousy and envy (Gal. 5:20-21). Years ago, if a friend of mine received something new that I wished I had, I remember feeling a jealous and envious spirit inside of me. I might have even said to my friend, “Oh, that’s nice,” but I was thinking something entirely different. Satan took that opportunity to whisper in my ear, “Why not me?” Just watch children and see how easy it is for them to get jealous or envious of others. A child’s birthday party can be an excellent example of this. One child is showered with gifts, while the other children just watch and lust over the birthday child’s gifts. This is a perfect opportunity to teach your children about the evils of jealousy and envy, and to help them overcome it. As parents, however, we must first be the example. How can we expect our children to overcome jealousy and envy when we have not? Remember, it was because of jealousy and envy that the Pharisees killed our Lord, Jesus Christ. Jealousy and envy are diseases of the flesh, and we can see how important it is to put these deeds of the flesh to death. A friend of mine purchased a new car. Her neighbor told her, “You don’t deserve a new car.” My friend said, “Why not?” The neighbor said, “You don’t even have a garage to put it in.” Whoa, was that jealousy and envy, or what? Of course, the neighbor had a garage, but was driving an older car and perhaps felt that the new car should be in her garage. Let’s look in 1 Corinthians 13, “The love chapter,” and see what love really is. Verse four says, “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous!” In 1 Corinthians 13:5 it says, “Love does not seek its own.” Love is not selfish or jealous. Love wants only good for everyone. It does not seek to satisfy its own lusts. When someone receives a special blessing, are we truly, from the bottom of our hearts, happy for them? Or, when we feel the person is not deserving, do we have an envious, jealous attitude like, “Boy, I don’t think she deserved to have that!”? Who are we to judge? Blessings and curses alike come from God. He is the judge of who gets what and when. It’s time to have a pure heart and only be happy and rejoice in another person’s blessings. First Corinthians 12:26 tells us, “If one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.” Yes, when our brothers and sisters in Christ, friends and neighbors are honored with blessings, we are to rejoice with them. We always need to think only the best of each other and just be happy for each other, because this is how we glorify our Father in heaven. If you have this problem and you see others being honored or blessed, check your attitude, and make sure you do not say to yourself, “I should have what they have.” Take this opportunity to overcome the problems of jealousy and envy, and thus, perfect holiness in that area of your life. - Don't Worry Be Happy: A Woman to Woman Article | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search Don't Worry Be Happy: A Woman to Woman Article It’s a wild, wicked world out there. How can I possibly not worry? The times we are living in seem so much more evil than five, ten or twenty years ago. When we turn on the television, it is a shame the way people are now allowed to swear and expose themselves sensually to the world. When we listen to the news, we see and hear about terrible things like murders, rapes and crimes of all sorts. We take our car out on the freeway and practically get run off the road. So how can we be happy and not worry you say? Yes, it is a wild, wicked world, isn’t it? The only way to escape the horror out there is to turn to God and repent. If we begin to do acts of kindness, showing God we mean business, He will be there to accept us, change us, protect us and make our lives peaceful and content, so that we can be happy and not worry. (Acts 26:20). God’s word is filled with His Ways—yes, His Ways of peace and happiness. Impossible, you say? No, not impossible with God. With Him, all things are possible (Matt. 19:26). You don’t have to believe me—just try living His simple Way, and you can prove to yourself that the way to have peace is by doing God’s Will. Yes, peace in a wild, wicked world filled with anxiety and pressure. God’s Ways are like a pressure release valve on a pressure cooker. When things like anxiety and the pressures of the world build up, give them to God through prayer. Think outwardly and do something good for someone and you will find relief. In other words, come out of self. It works! Our biggest problem has always been our self. If we could only get out of our way, we could be successful! Does this ring a bell in your head? It sure does in mine. We need to put to death our evil ways, by the way the Lord has given us instruction to do (1 Peter 5:10-11; Rom. 12:21). God wants us to constantly serve others to please Him. This is His Will. Yes, this is God’s Way. I was thinking about God’s word the other day, and Psalm 128:1 was going through my mind. “How blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways.” What a beautiful world this would be if everyone lived by God’s precious Ways. There would be no reason for worry and would be nothing but happiness. Now that is a beautiful world! - Why Did Jesus Have to Die? | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search Why Did Jesus Have to Die? Jesus Christ was sent to this world by God, the Father, to show the world how to live. He was sent to be an example for us of how to please and imitate God daily (Eph. 5:1). All He did while on this earth was serve God by doing God's Will (Matt. 5:16; 4:10). He went about continually doing good (Acts 10:38). At the end, He made the ultimate sacrifice. He laid down His life for the world. He humbled Himself to the point of being tortured, beaten and battered because He stood up for what was right. He knew he had to be the ultimate example. He loved us so much, that He died for us that we would receive forgiveness for our sins, should we repent and live the life He came to show us (1 Peter 1:2). We would also receive His Holy Spirit so we could overcome (Acts 5:32). We are to no longer live disgraceful lives before our Maker, but we are to overcome the evil in our lives by doing good (Rom. 12:21; 1 Peter 3:10-11; Rev. 2:26). For it is written, "Sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law, but under grace (Rom. 6:14). Christ is the propitiation for our sins (1 John 2:2; 4:10). That means, through Jesus Christ we are able to return to God and have a good personal relationship with Him, even though we have sin. Through Jesus Christ's blood, our sins are forgiven. Why does there have to be blood to cover sins? According to the word of God, without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness (Heb. 9:22). Before Jesus, God's people were under the Law of Moses. Whenever they sinned, they had to bring sacrifices to the altar. Once a year, the high priest would take the blood of an animal into the holy place and offer it for himself and for the sins of the people committed in ignorance (Heb. 9:7). Jesus Christ is the better sacrifice, for with the sacrifice of His life, He entered heaven to appear before God for us (Heb. 9:23-24). He didn't need to die a number of times, just once. He put away sin for all time because He showed us, by His actions, that we, too, can overcome sin in our bodies and become brand new creatures who want to serve God by serving others daily (Heb. 2:17-18). We only need to believe the words of Jesus Christ and then act on them daily (John 3:36). - The Message of the Prophets | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search The Message of the Prophets The message of the prophets down through the ages was, "Repent! Repent, or you will all likewise perish!" (Matt. 3:2; 4:17; Luke 13:3, 5). Wouldn't it be something if that was the end of their message from God? No one would know how to repent. Some would think it meant cry aloud the words, "I repent! I repent!" and that would be it. Others would say the sinner's prayer and that would be the end of their repentance. They would say they gave their heart to the Lord or let Jesus into their heart. What was the whole message of the prophets (Acts 5:20)? How did the messengers from God tell people they were to repent? Daniel told King Nebuchadnezzar how to repent saying, "Break away now from your sins by doing acts of righteousness, and from all your sinful ways by showing mercy to the poor" (Dan. 4:27). Isaiah said, "Cease to do evil by learning to do good. Seek to be just in all your ways, and correct those who are evil. Help orphans and serve widows who are in need. If you consent and obey, you will be blessed in the land and though your sins are as red as scarlet, they will be as white as snow. Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from My sight" (Is. 1:16-20). Zephaniah told those who would repent, "Seek the Lord, all you humble of the earth, who have carried out His ordinances. Seek to be righteous and stay humble. Perhaps you will be hidden in the day of the Lord's anger" (Zeph. 2:3). Amos, the prophet, said, "Seek good and not evil, that you may live and not perish, and God will be with you. Hate evil, love what is good and establish true justice in your courts. Perhaps the Lord God of hosts will be gracious to you and you won't perish" (Amos 5:14-15). The inhabitants of the world must learn righteousness. Though the wicked is shown favor, he does not learn righteousness (Is. 26:9-10). God wants us to repent and learn righteousness by serving others and living a life of doing good. He wants us to stop doing evil and only do good. He wants us to live according to His Ways, which are pure, good and unselfish. Yes, the message of the prophets of old was, "Repent, or you will perish" (Luke 13:3, 5). This was Jesus Christ's message, and it is the message for us today. PREV NEXT 3 SIMPLE STEPS TO GET STARTED MORE BIBLE STUDIES PODCASTS HOME All About the Bible PDF © 2025 Whole Wheat International

- The Secret of Perpetual Motion | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search The Secret of Perpetual Motion The God of heaven and earth promises a glorified body that will never die or cease moving to everyone who believes and lives in Him. If that is not perpetual motion, what is? The only thing you need to do to accomplish this is repent from a life of perpetual evil and live a life of perpetual good, as Jesus Christ, our perfect example, did. Paul, Peter and other apostles were continually admonishing people to practice being good by perpetually practicing those things that are good (Matt. 25:33-40). Paul also told people, including us, that Jesus Christ is purifying for Himself a people who are perpetually zealous for good works (Titus 2:14). Christ is now ascended on high, where He perpetually does good in heaven. A true follower of Jesus Christ perpetually does good on earth as it is perpetually done in heaven because he is following Christ’s perpetual example (Matt. 6:10). Now if you are not learning to be good by perpetually doing good and glorifying God in heaven by doing good works daily, as Christ did, what are you doing with your free time (Matt. 5:16)? Are you still indulging in a little sin? Heaven forbid! If you are, then you are serving two gods, the god of this world - Satan, and the God of heaven - Jesus Christ (Matt. 6:24; 1 John 5:19; John 14:30). We are not to live to the flesh any longer, but only to the Spirit, so we do not carry out the desires of the flesh (Gal. 5:16). We put to death the unclean deeds and habits of the flesh by perpetually living to please God (Rom. 8:13). So, if you want your wheels to perpetually turn, perpetually do good for God and He will perfect you (Rom. 12:1-2; Matt. 5:48). - Finding Inner Strength | Daily Grains
Finding Inner Strength When we read about early disciples of Jesus Christ and the trials and tortures they went through, we realize they had to have inner strength to endure to the end. What is this mysterious inner strength and where does it come from? Most importantly, how do we obtain it? We must look into God’s Word to find out how to have inner strength. We are to cast all our anxieties, our troubled thoughts, our problems and our frustrations on God, and He will take them from us. There is no more condemnation for us (feeling bad about ourselves or our shortcomings) when we are living the way Jesus Christ showed us to live daily. How many people cast all their anxieties, troubles and woes on Jesus Christ, and experience the inner strength that comes from God by doing so? Remember, God does not hear sinners, but only those who show Him respect by doing His Will daily on this earth as it is being done in heaven. So let’s live for God and then trust in Him for the inner strength that cannot fail. We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him. John 9:31 Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. 19 We will know by this that we are of the truth, and will assure our heart before Him 20 in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart and knows all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God. 1 John 3:18-21 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. - The Overlooked Message of Salvation | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search The Overlooked Message of Salvation It is true that we all need forgiveness from God. We all need to accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. We all need to believe in Jesus Christ. We all are in need of God’s grace and forgiveness. We all need to pray, as it were, the sinners prayer, and we all need to be covered by the blood of Jesus for the forgiveness of sins. But the most important requirement in the process of salvation is being completely overlooked and forgotten. We all need to repent. We not only need to repent, but we desperately need to know how to repent. God, Himself, commands us to repent and be saved from this evil generation. “Repent or you will all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3). The Bible sternly warns, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matt. 3:2; 4:17; 10:7). There is quite a difference between the repentance of 2,000 years ago and today. When people repented in Jesus Christ’s day, the way they lived changed 180 degrees. The most permanent thing about the lives of the early believers was change. And change they did. They all became zealous doers of God’s word (Titus 2:14; James 1:22)! How did they become doers of God’s word? How was their faith so different from thousands who profess Jesus Christ today? Their faith had works. It was not a dead faith. It was alive! Wherever true followers of Jesus Christ happened to be, they were zealous for good works (1 Peter 3:13; Titus 2:7). They did not do their works for the reason of salvation, which they all knew was a gift of God and could never be earned. Their good works were done for repentance as a result of being given the gift of salvation by God. To those who have ears to hear, listen (Mark 4:23)! Repentance must result in a life of good works or it is not repentance! A person can say, “I repent, I repent, I repent,” all day long, but if that person’s life does not change or continually display a life of doing good, then repentance is dead all by itself. Not only that, but that person’s faith is dead also, for God’s word says faith without works is most certainly dead (James 2:14-26). Those whose faith is void of works are not practicing repentance and as a result, there can be no spiritual fruit on their trees and no spiritual growth in their daily lives before God. God must cause the growth but true believers must imitate God by keeping His Ways daily (1 Cor. 3:7; Eph. 5:1). In order for God to cause the growth, we must do the repenting. We all know that Jesus Christ lived to glorify the Father by the Way He lived daily. We also know He glorified the Father by good works, not bad works. Jesus commanded His true disciples to glorify the Father in heaven by good works and to let their lights shine by being examples of good deeds (Matt. 5:16; Titus 2:7). All those who profess to know Jesus Christ and remain worthless for good works not only deny Jesus Christ in their daily lives, but continue to live detestable and disobedient lives before God (Titus 1:16). They remain unrepentant. God is angry and upset with thousands of people who profess His name but do not live His life daily by imitating Jesus Christ, His son. Why is He upset? Because these people are not coming out of sin by engaging in a life of righteousness, and as a result, they remain unrepentant. How many who profess the name of Jesus Christ today are living like the true sheep of the Shepherd, Jesus Christ, as described in Matthew 25:33-40? How many are doing these works of righteousness, whether they be in words or deeds, in the name of Jesus Christ for the glory of the Father, as we are commanded to do in Scripture (Col. 3:17)? Do you know that you have to force yourself to do good because doing what is evil comes quite naturally? Yes, you must force or press your way into the kingdom of God that is within you (Luke 16:16; 17:21). Did you know that every time you force yourself to do good for God you resist evil and build godly character? Did you know this is how you discipline your body according to godliness (1 Tim. 4:7)? Did you know this is the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness (Titus 1:1)? The word of God says if anyone comes to you with any other message than the doctrine that conforms you to godliness and the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ, that person is conceited and understands nothing (1 Tim. 6:3). If anyone does not abide in the teaching of Jesus Christ and the doctrine that transforms you into a godly, holy, upright and beautiful person, you are not to receive him into your house or give him a greeting (2 John 9-10). Today, Jesus warns us not to be religiously misled, for many will come preaching in the name of Jesus saying, “Jesus is the Christ, I am He,” signaling that the end of the age is at hand (Mark 13:6). Jesus said, “Don’t go after them” (Luke 21:8; Matt. 24:4). Who are these men? They love to have others look up to them as being righteous and come to them for salvation. However, they do not produce righteous, guilt-free people for God. Like the Pharisees of old, they love to have the adoration of men instead of God. Many become very popular with men but very unpopular with God. That person who is esteemed or well-liked by men is detestable in the sight of God (Is. 2:22; Matt. 5:20; Luke 6:26). Jesus said the world would love its own. What did He mean? The world loves ministers who produce hearers of the word and not doers (Jer. 5:30-31; Ezek. 33:30-32). People love to be told you cannot earn salvation by good works because it is a gift, but they hate to hear that you cannot repent unless you are careful to engage in good works and learn to do good for God (Titus 3:8, 14). True believers are to be provoked, stimulated and to admonish one another to more love and good works (Heb. 10:24). These are not good works to be published in a church bulletin, but works to be done on a personal, daily basis in secret, not to be broadcast to others (Matt. 6:1). This is how you build a one-to-one relationship with Jesus Christ. Someone might ask, “How can I help needy people? I don’t know of any.” Ask Jesus Christ to give you the eyes of a servant and His attitude of being a servant to others, and then be ready to serve! Ask Him to send you the needy, the hungry and the lonely so you can begin to put your discipleship into practice and build some godly good fruit on your tree (Col. 1:10). Good works done daily for God is how you bear much fruit and prove to be a disciple of Jesus Christ (John 15:8). Be like those true believers found in the book of Romans who, by perseverance in doing good, seek for glory, honor and eternal life (Rom. 2:7). If you do not engage in a life of doing good, your life will never be blessed by God (Acts 3:26). It is God who renders blessings to men according to their deeds or works of righteousness (Rom. 2:6; Matt. 16:27). Remember always, the one who does good is of God (3 John 11, 1 John 3:10). True believers are justified doers of the word (James 1:22; James 2:21-24; Rom. 2:13). They obey Jesus Christ and are sprinkled by His blood (1 Peter 1:2). Their sins are forgiven, while those who profess Jesus Christ and remain worthless for doing good deny Jesus Christ because they remain unrepentant (Titus 1:16). True believers are not to live for self any longer but for Jesus Christ only (2 Cor. 5:15; 1 Cor. 10:24). We live for Jesus Christ by dying to sin and living to righteousness (Gal. 5:24). This should be obvious when we read Scriptures like, “But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary of doing good” (2 Thess. 3:13). Those who do not do good for God are going the wrong way. It should be even more obvious that if the Lord is furious when one of His followers becomes lukewarm in regard to doing good, that we should not be lukewarm in our commitment to doing good for God (Rev. 3:15)! God says He will vomit out those who are lukewarm (Rev. 3:16). Scriptures are often quoted out of context. We hear, “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God; not a result of works, that no one should boast” (Eph. 2:8-9). But isn’t it time we read the next verse, which makes the message balanced? We are created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them (Eph. 2:10)! That means we are to live a life of doing good works for God’s glory (Matt. 5:16). What’s wrong with doing that? Another set of Scriptures that is quoted out of context is Titus 3:5-7. “He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” These few Scriptures do not do away with a life of good works. The very next verse admonishes us to be careful to engage in good works (Titus 3:8). Jesus Christ is purifying for Himself a people for His own possession who are zealous and on fire or hot for good works, and have purified themselves through the power of God’s Holy Spirit by doing so (Titus 2:7). There are millions out there who profess Jesus Christ with their mouths but their lives deny Him daily (Titus 1:16)! Don’t feel bad, there’s absolutely no need to feel guilty when you can start to do good right now and repent. Just set your mind to please God each day in all you think, do and say. Then study God’s word each day to show God you mean it. Obey the Scriptures that say we should go out and do good. If you have not heard this message before, it is because you were listening to man and not to God. When you repent by doing good works and by studying God’s word daily, if there’s something you do not understand, ask God. He is not deaf to someone who wants to serve Him by doing His Will of good works on earth as it is being done in heaven (Matt. 6:10). Remember, study your Bible and stop reading it. You can read the Bible for a lifetime and never know it unless you study it. The very next step is putting it into practice by doing good daily as Jesus Christ gave us example to do. Can you begin to realize that if you didn’t live to please God each day by imitating the Way Jesus Christ gave us example to live, then Jesus Christ lived His life in vain as far as your spiritual life is concerned (1 Cor. 11:1; 1 John 2:6)? Don’t you think you’re going to have to force yourself to do good and to do what is right for God in thought, word and deed until it comes from your heart? The Apostle Paul had to do this very same thing (1 Cor. 9:27). We have been bought with a price. Therefore, we are to glorify God in our bodies by engaging in lives of doing good for God. Jesus’ only purpose in life was to do good each day for the glory of His Father. This must be every true believer’s attitude in life until the return of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ says He will allow those who overcome and endure to the end by doing His works—which He gave you example to do—to sit with Him (Rev. 3:21). Jesus emphatically says that many of His true followers will do greater works then He did (John 14:12). Do you believe Him? The prophets of old were sent by God every time the false ministers made crooked the straight Ways of the Lord. The ministers became full of deceit and fraud, and as a result, became sons of the devil, like the Pharisees of the New Testament (Acts 13:10). They were constantly making crooked the straight Ways of the Lord by perverting God’s simple, eternal message. That message was, “Overcome evil by doing good so you will abide forever” (Psalm 37:27; Rom. 12:21). One of the reasons God sent John the Baptist as a prophet was to teach God’s Ways of repentance, and straighten out the message, which the Pharisees had perverted (Mark 1:3). People hate to be told they have to repent by doing good. In the past, they hated that message so much that they killed many of the prophets God sent, and they will kill more in the future. The message was repeated over and over by the prophets of old (Is. 1:16-20). Their message was called the ancient paths where the good way is (Jer. 6:16). Did not our fathers have plenty to eat and drink when they practiced righteousness and honesty one to another? That’s when everything went well for them. They took care of those who were needy and afflicted and constantly did good in His sight. Isn’t this what it means to know the Lord (Jer. 22:15-16)? “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46-47). Hosea had a novel way of saying the same message of righteousness. Study Hosea 10:12-13 and Zephaniah 2:3 which say the same message of righteousness. Under the Law of Moses, the Israelites were required not only to practice righteousness by continually doing good for God, but they were also required to keep the entire Law, including holy days, animal sacrifices and many other ordinances (Gal. 5:1-4; Col. 2:16-17). We, under the New Testament, are freed from the works of the Law of Moses by engaging only in works of righteousness for God (Rom. 5:20-21). Pure religion is to help others in need and by doing so, to keep ourselves unstained by the world. We can keep ourselves from worldliness, which is sin, by serving others in need and by continually doing good for the glory of God. This is the truth! You know it is the truth, therefore you are required to live it (Ezek. 3:17-21; 33:7-8, 13-16, 31-33) PREV NEXT 3 SIMPLE STEPS TO GET STARTED MORE BIBLE STUDIES PODCASTS HOME All About the Bible PDF © 2025 Whole Wheat International
- Rehabilitation | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search Rehabilitation Many people do not stop to realize that the Bible is a handbook on rehabilitation. When He was living here on earth, Jesus Christ was calling all kinds of sinners to repentance and teaching them how to change their way of life to one that pleases God (Matt. 9:13; 1 Cor. 6:9-10). Zaccheus was one of these people. He was a chief tax collector for the Roman government (Luke 19:1-9). Christ always mentioned tax collectors right along with harlots. Zacchaeus stole a great deal of money and became rich by doing so. How did Zaccheus repent? He gave half of his possessions to the poor and made fourfold restitution to those he had cheated. Zacchaeus began practicing righteousness. He was truly getting involved with a life of good works and thus, leaving behind a life of bad works. Don’t you think he glorified God in heaven by those good works, and didn’t his light begin to shine (Matt. 5:16)? Zacchaeus must have understood what Jesus meant when He said to repent because Jesus said, "Today salvation has come to this house." Other thieves were also told to stop stealing and get an honest job so they could do good with their money and share it with others who had a need (Eph. 4:28). God’s policy on repentance includes practicing righteousness and honesty for God (Ezek. 33:13-16). John the Baptist told people how to do good for repentance (Luke 3:10-11; Matt. 21:32; 2 Peter 2:21). Yes, practicing righteousness toward others is how you prove to God that you are repentant (Acts 26:20; 1 John 3:7, 10). It is how you bring forth good fruits, which are good works, on your spiritual tree (Matt. 3:10; Luke 3:8; Col. 1:10). Keep doing God’s Will, which is righteousness, until God makes it come from your heart (Eph. 6:6; Matt. 5:20; Gal. 4:19; Rom. 16:20). The Lord is the only one who can rehabilitate a person. He is the only one who can grant you repentance (2 Tim. 2:25-26). PREV NEXT 3 SIMPLE STEPS TO GET STARTED MORE BIBLE STUDIES PODCASTS HOME All About the Bible PDF © 2025 Whole Wheat International

- The Purpose of Life - to do good works for God | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search The Purpose of Life - to do good works for God The whole purpose of life is to seek the Lord and do good works for His glory (Eph. 2:10; Is. 55:6-7; Matt. 5:16). The Lord is righteous in all His Ways and kind in all His deeds (Psalm 145:17). He is found by those who live righteously (do good to please Him daily) and study His word to learn how He thinks (Acts 10:2, 38; 2 Tim. 3:16-17). The word of God states that without holiness no one will see the Lord (Heb. 12:14, King James Version). Now, to be holy one must be righteous, and to be righteous one must do good for God’s glory continually by practicing righteousness (Matt. 5:16; Col. 3:17; 1 John 3:7, 10; Job 29:12-15). God is going to test everyone who lives on the earth in the last days to see who will repent and serve Him by serving others (Rev. 3:10; Mal. 3:18). All the people on the earth must first have an opportunity to know the truth and know how to repent, change and live their lives to be pleasing to God (2 Peter 3:9). All must hear the message of repentance. Then they will have no excuse for their sins (John 15:22). This message of repentance is the central theme to the true message of the kingdom of heaven. This true message of the kingdom must be preached and published in the whole world for a witness first, and then the end will come (Matt. 24:14). There are two gospels being preached today. The “good-for-nothing” gospel that produces good-for-nothings because no permanent change for the good takes place in people’s lives who hear it. Then there is the “good-for-something” gospel that produces people who are zealous for good works, as Jesus Christ was and as He told us to be (Titus 2:14). The “good-for-nothing” gospel discourages or doesn’t talk about doing good works for God, and it also preaches a gospel of half-truths by which no one can be saved. Remember, good works are to be done for repentance for God’s glory; they are not done for salvation, because salvation cannot be earned by good works (Matt. 5:16). Salvation is a free gift that goes only to those who repent daily and live the repentant life that Jesus came to show us (Eph. 2:8-9). Will you be ready when Jesus Christ returns? Will you be found doing good works for God and fulfilling the purpose of your life? This is the purpose for which you were created (Eph. 2:10). And only those in their graves who had good deeds for God will come to a resurrection of life (John 5:28-29; Rev. 14:13; 20:12). - Make Your Ways Straight | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search Make Your Ways Straight There are many different expressions in the Bible instructing believers to walk with singleness of mind, singleness of eye or singleness of heart. Hebrews 12:13 commands, "Make straight paths for your feet." Making straight paths for your feet is walking in righteousness at all times - continually. To always walk in righteousness is to always please the Lord. To always please the Lord we must constantly remember to please Him with our thoughts, words and deeds (Col. 1:10). We must refrain from sin and engage in those things that are good, edifying, honorable and profitable for others (Titus 3:8). Walking with singleness of mind and heart is being intent on serving and pleasing only God (Matt. 6:24). He is number one in your life, in your heart and in your mind. You must make Him number one in your actions. Psalm 106:3 says, "How blessed are those who practice righteousness at all times." God will do good to those who are good, but you cannot be good unless you do good for God daily, in secret (Psalm 125:4; 37:27; Matt: 5:16). You must not do your good because you want people to know of the good you do for others (Matt. 6:1). To make your ways straight, then, please the Lord in all you do. Seek God by doing good to please Him. Turn away from a life of sin to a life of righteousness (Rom. 12:21). This is the way of peace (Luke 1:79). It is also the way to prosperity, blessings, answered prayer, joy and every good thing (Prov. 13:21; 1 John 3:22; Heb. 13:21). So do not deprive yourself of the good life with the free gift of eternal life that comes from living a godly life. It is the life Jesus Christ lived, and He came to show us how easy and pleasant it is (Matt. 11:30). You will soon be a new you, if to His Ways you remain true (Gal. 6:15; Col. 3:10, 12-17). - A Life Free From Fear | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search A Life Free From Fear When you please God, He protects you from your enemies and even makes them be at peace with you (2 Sam. 22:18; Psalm 18:3, 17; Prov. 16:7). Jesus told you not to fear men or what they can do to the body. Instead, you are to fear God, who has the power to kill both the body and the soul (Matt. 10:28). Yes, God can destroy the soul of a man! When you obey God by walking the holy Way He walks, you are doing the Will of God on this earth daily as it is being done in heaven (Matt. 6:10). When you obey God, you become eligible for all the benefits that come from serving the Creator of heaven and earth. God protects you in famine and war, from violence, wild beasts and theft (Job 5:20-27; Psalm 10:5; 91:7; 34:7; 33:19; Prov. 3:25-26). He gives you long life and healthy children. The Lord will protect you from all evil and sickness if you are keeping His Ways (Psalm 121:7; 91:3; 103:3). You do this by practicing righteousness and honesty in all your dealings with man, just as Abraham did (Gen. 18:19). God will protect you if you learn and practice what pleases Him and bring up your children in the Ways of the Lord (Eph. 5:10; 6:4; Col. 3:20). God has told you in His word what is good and how to love Him (Micah 6:8; Zech. 7:9-10; Matt. 25:33-40; Prov. 8:17). You seek God by doing good for Him (Psalm 14:1-3; 1 Peter 3:11). Doing good for God is how you please Him and how you serve Him. You please your heavenly Father in the same way that you would please your earthly father - by doing everything you can to obey and please Him. Just get busy serving Him by serving others in kindness and charity. You are walking in the commandments and fulfilling the royal law when you practice righteousness toward your fellow man daily to please God (2 John 6; 1 John 3:7; James 2:8). The Law is not made for the righteous, but for sinners, because the righteous are already abiding by its principles (1 Tim. 1:8-10). When you practice righteousness daily by not swearing and lying, you are living according to the Law (Col. 3:8-9; Prov. 8:13). You are using your body as an instrument of righteousness (Rom. 6:12-13, 19). You are putting to death the deeds of the body by doing good for God, and you are no longer carrying out the desires of the flesh (Rom. 8:12-13; Gal. 5:16, 19-21). Then, you are no longer under the Law but under grace (Gal. 5:18; Rom. 6:14). Then, and only then, can you have a life free from fear and guilt - a life filled with God’s peace which surpasses all comprehension (Phil. 4:7). - Living to the Spirit | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search Living to the Spirit A disciple of Jesus Christ, after baptism, is to live to the Spirit in order to please God. How is this done? Before you became a disciple of Jesus Christ, you were by nature living to the flesh. That means that you were thinking your own thoughts and saying your own words. You were directing your own steps and living the way you thought was best. Now you have agreed to live your life to please God, like our example Jesus Christ did. Living to the Spirit is living to please the Father, who gives His Spirit to those who obey Him (Acts 5:32). What does the Father want us to do in order to live to the Spirit? He wants us to glorify Him by doing good works (Eph. 2:10; Matt. 5:16). Why is doing good works so important? Doing good works is how we produce good fruits on our spiritual trees, and how we build godly character (Matt. 3:10). The Father does good works, and we are to imitate Him (Eph. 5:1; 1 Cor. 11:1; 1 John 2:6; 3 John 11; 1 Peter 2:21). Doing good works allows a disciple of Christ to be blessed (Mal. 3:10). Good works was the main ingredient in the process by which Jesus overcame, and Jesus said many of those who followed Him would do greater good works than He did (John 14:12). Doing good works is how we overcome evil and how we learn to be servants of others for the glory of God. Doing good works is how we discipline ourselves for the purpose of godliness (1 Tim. 4:7). Doing the works that Jesus Christ did is how we overcome and how we receive a new heart (Rev. 2:26). When we overcome our old nature, we enter the kingdom of God or God’s rest (Heb. 4:10; Rev. 3:21). Then our joy is made full and we have an abundant life (John 10:10). When all we sow is righteousness, like Christ our example, then all we reap is blessings. Then we are truly living to the Spirit. Many people believe we live this way naturally after accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. Scripture shows clearly that this is a false conception. Look at the world. It is a mess! Many people who claim to be Christians are practicing a faith without good works. As a result, they remain spiritually dead in their faith (James 2:14-26). They are becoming religious, but not holy; and without holiness, no one will see the Lord (Heb. 12:14, King James Version). We cannot possibly be holy without obeying and practicing the words of Jesus Christ each day (John 8:51; Luke 6:46). This takes godly discipline, but just remember, it is easy and pleasant (Matt. 11:30). It is wonderful. Try it! You will love it and the Lord will love you too. wholewheatonline.com Search The Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand The kingdom of heaven is entered by repentance. Jesus Christ’s words confirm this (Matt. 4:17). So, to enter the kingdom of heaven and receive eternal life, all one needs to know is how to repent according to God’s word. It is one thing to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and say the Sinner’s prayer from your heart (Eph. 2:8-9). It is another thing to prove your repentance daily by what you think, do and say from that point forward (Eph. 2:10). There are people who continue to live their old sinful lives and continue in their old sinful ways, believing that by some miracle they are saved (Gal. 5:19-21). Many are being told they are saved when they were never even told how to repent. As a result, they continue to live detestable and disobedient lives before God because nothing changes in their lives (Titus 1:16). They continue to live detestable lives because they are not doing good toward others for God daily. God wants us to cease from a life of doing evil by beginning a life of doing good. He wants us to be outgoing, charitable, loving, giving, kind, gracious, honest, honorable and compassionate people (Gal. 5:22-25; Prov. 19:22). He says He will cause growth in us if we will put these principles into practice toward one another daily (1 Cor. 3:7). He wants us to come out of self by doing good for others continually (Rom. 12:21; 1 Peter 3:10-11). He wants us to love our neighbors by helping and serving them and by doing good to them daily. This is how Jesus Christ’s true followers live (Acts 9:36). This is true repentance. Jesus came here not only to die for our sins, but also to be our example of how to overcome (1 Peter 2:21; Rev. 3:21). He came here to show us how to repent so we will live forever (Psalm 37:27). Jesus Christ wants us to live by His words and act on them daily (John 8:51; 11:26; Matt. 7:24; Luke 8:21). God’s Will is righteousness because all God’s Ways are righteous (Psalm 145:17). When we do God’s Will daily, as we are supposed to do, we are practicing righteousness for God. We are pleasing Him in all we think, say and do and we are walking in the light of God’s word (1 John 1:7). We are effectual doers of God’s word and we begin to be blessed in all we do (James 1:22, 25). When we do God’s Will, we will have our prayers answered and we will live forever (John 9:31; 1 John 2:17). Now is the time to repent and enter God’s glorious, good life that is waiting for you (Matt. 7:21). This is the true message of the kingdom of heaven. - How to Be Good | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search How to Be Good The words of a familiar song say, “He knows when you’ve been sleeping, he knows when you’re awake, he knows when you’ve been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake.” Why not be good for God’s sake? Yes, we are constantly telling our children to be good, but why? Good things happen to good people. The word of God says: “If the righteous are rewarded in the earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!” (Prov. 11:31). Psalm 125:4 says: “Do good, oh Lord, to those who are good. Yes, God wants children to be good. He tells little children not to let anyone deceive them, and that the one who practices righteousness is righteous, even as God is righteous (1 John 3:7). He also tells the little children not to love with the words of their mouths only, but with good deeds. By this, they will know they are of the truth and be sure in their hearts that they are God’s friends (1 John 3:18-19). God wants little children to live as Jesus Christ gave them example to live, so that when He returns, they will have confidence and not shrink away in shame. God’s word tells you how to abide in Him. It says: “If you know that Jesus Christ is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness [daily] is born of Him” (1 John 2:28-29). You must, however, do all that you do in word or deed in the name of Jesus Christ, as happy slaves of Jesus Christ (Col. 3:17). Righteousness is doing God’s Will from the heart (Eph. 6:6). You know that you love the children of God (others) when you love God and practice or do His commandments; and they are not hard to keep (1 John 5:2-3). You keep them daily by continually doing things that are pleasing in God’s sight (1 John 3:22). If you are to walk with God, then you must walk in His commandments, just as you have heard from the beginning that you should walk in them (2 John 6). You walk in His commandments by practicing righteousness—by being careful to engage in good deeds (Titus 3:8). This is something you’re going to have to learn to do (Titus 3:14). But realize this: whatever good you do, this you will receive back from the Lord (Eph. 6:8). When all you sow is righteousness, all you’ll reap is blessings, for God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name (Gal. 6:7; Heb. 6:10). - How To Build More Faith | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search How To Build More Faith Jesus Christ had faith in His Father because He respected His Father’s Will. He used His Father as an example. Whatever He saw His Father do, He did likewise. His Father loved Him and showed Him all things (John 5:19-20). Christ did nothing of His own initiative but He only did what He was taught by His Father to do (John 8:28). He always did things that were pleasing to His Father (John 8:29). Disciples of Jesus Christ must also learn to love and imitate the Father by doing the same deeds that Christ did—helping the poor, lame and blind; in general, living a life of doing good (Eph. 5:1). We overcome our sinful natures by doing so (Rom. 12:9, 21). When we become zealous for good deeds and endure to the end, the Father is glorified (1 Peter 3:13; Titus 2:14; Rev. 2:26; Matt. 5:16). This is the way the Father wishes to be worshiped (John 4:23; 1 John 3:18-19; Rom. 12:1). We must be careful to do these things in the name of Jesus Christ, for the glory of the Father in heaven (Rom. 2:7; 10:2-3; Col. 3:17). Faith and belief in Jesus Christ require daily obedience to Him (Rom. 16:26). Many of the religious leaders of Jesus Christ’s day were becoming obedient to that one faith (Acts 6:7). Jesus Christ was obedient to that one faith and He endured until the end, leaving us an example of how we should live to please the Father daily by serving others (John 16:33; Matt. 23:11). The Bible says a person is foolish if he thinks he can have faith without works (James 2:20). It even says faith without works is dead, because this is how our faith is perfected (James 2:22, 26). Without these works of charity, love and service to others, we are not justified (James 2:24). The religious Pharisees of old were practicing righteousness to be seen of men, and not for God for repentance. Obedience to the faith of Jesus Christ requires that you practice righteousness for the glory of God daily for repentance, overcoming, and a change of nature, as well as for great blessings. - How Do We Live to the Spirit? | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search How Do We Live to the Spirit? In Galatians 5:16, the Apostle Paul says that disciples of Jesus Christ should walk by the Spirit so they do not carry out the desires of the flesh. It seems evident that Jesus Christ, our Savior, walked by the Spirit, because He did not carry out the desires of the flesh, which is sin. To walk by the Spirit is to live to the Spirit, and that Spirit is God (John 4:24). You walk in the Spirit by walking in the commandments. This is what a disciple of Jesus Christ is expected to do (2 John 6). These commandments are not burdensome to keep (1 John 5:3). In fact, they are easy and pleasant to keep (Matt. 11:28-30). They are not the commandments of Moses, but rather the Way of life that Jesus came to tell us about, as found in Matthew, chapters 5, 6 and 7—the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus says anyone who lives this Way and teaches it to others will be called great in the kingdom of heaven (Matt. 5:19). In order to keep this Way, you must act upon the words of Jesus Christ (Matt. 7:24; Luke 8:21; 11:28). If you look at some of the more modern Bible translations, you will see the phrases, “puts them into practice”; “who hear and practice the word of God”; and “put it into practice.” Yes, God wants you to practice the truth because that’s the key to finding out what the truth or light is (John 3:21). The truth is the sayings of Christ, which we are to put into practice daily in our lives (John 12:47). Those sayings represent the Will of God. You must be willing to do God’s Will in order to understand the teaching (John 7:17). You will be putting to death the deeds of the body as you live to the Spirit (Rom. 8:13). Living to the Spirit, then, is overcoming your evil, human nature by practicing the deeds of Christ (Rev. 2:26). We must overcome evil by doing good and by being zealous for good deeds (Rom. 12:21; 1 Peter 3:13). We must do these deeds in the name of Christ, which allows God to crush our satanic nature and put it under our control (Col. 3:17; Rom. 16:20). That is fighting the good fight of faith and that’s living by the Spirit (2 Tim. 4:7; Rom. 8:14). - Conditions for the Blood of Jesus | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search Conditions for the Blood of Jesus The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all of our sins - past, present and future. But are there any conditions that must be met before the blood applies? Yes, 1 Peter 1:2 says we must obey Jesus Christ first. What happens when a person repents and is baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins? Everyone knows that disciples of Jesus Christ are to live a different way of life. Some people today are simply told to stop sinning. Others are told only what the church expects of them in order to be right with God in the eyes of that particular faith. Some are told that God wants them to keep the Ten Commandments, love God and love their fellow man, but it is never explained to them how this is done. One thing is for sure, there is much confusion as to exactly what you should do after you are baptized. Man might be confused, but God is not the author of confusion (1 Cor. 14:33). Satan is that author and he loves to leave you hanging. He gives you information, but never enough to make a permanent change for the good in your life. Jesus came that we might have peace, abundance and joy in our daily lives (John 10:10; 17:13; Acts 3:19, 26; Rom. 14:17). In 1 Peter 2:24 it says, "Jesus Christ bore our sins in His body, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness." How do you live to righteousness? Simply practice righteousness (1 John 2:29; 3:7, 10). How do you practice righteousness? Engage in good deeds (Titus 3:8; Gal. 6:9; 2 Thess. 3:13). To what degree should you do them? Zealously (1 Peter 3:13; Matt. 5:20)! Why zealously? Because zealously overcoming evil with good, along with daily study of God’s word and prayer, is putting on the full armor of God (Rom. 12:21; Eph. 6:11). Most people who profess Jesus Christ as their Savior are totally unaware of this. What can you do to practice righteousness? Look for people who are in need and help them (Matt. 25:33-40). Share your clothes, your food, your money, your time and your love with them (Luke 3:10-11; James 2:15-26; 1 John 3:17-19). Entertain widows, orphans, the blind, lame and poor (Luke 14:13). Have them over for dinner. Do something; do not just sit there (Titus 1:16; 2:7)! Walk in the light. Keep yourself busy with acts of righteousness, charity and love. Be like Dorcas (Acts 9:36; 10:35). Then the blood of Jesus Christ can cover your sins (1 John 1:7; 1 Peter 1:2; Acts 5:32; Luke 6:46; 11:28; Matt. 7:24; James 1:22; John 12:47-48). Remember, if good works cover a multitude of sins, you had better have some, don’t you think (1 Peter 4:8, 18; James 5:20)?
