- Did Jesus Faith Have Good Works? | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Did Jesus Faith Have Good Works? Jesus said, "My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working; My food is to do the Will of Him who sent Me, and to accomplish His work" (John 5:17; 4:34). These verses say Jesus did the Will of the Father on earth as it is being done in heaven (Matt. 6:10). He was doing the Father’s works, which are all righteous (Rom. 10:3). Jesus Christ and His disciples subjected themselves to the righteousness of God. Jesus even said some who followed Him would do greater works than He did (John 14:12). A lot of people are ready to receive the message of the Way of righteousness today (John 4:35). They are hungry for it. John 4:36 says anyone who is living this Way is already receiving blessings and bearing fruit for eternal life (Matt. 5:19; 3:10; 1 John 3:7, 10, 17-20). Jesus Christ’s faith had works of righteousness (John 10:32, 37-38). He helped people in need of clothing or daily food (James 2:15-17). His faith was not dead but alive because of His good works (James 2:26). Jesus knew that a man is not justified by faith alone, nor by works based on the law of Moses, but by works of righteousness done for God’s glory (James 2:24; Rom. 3:20; Matt. 5:16). Jesus’ works were not based on self-righteousness, which is righteousness of the flesh, but on the righteousness of faith (Rom. 3:27). So also, our works are to be based on the righteousness of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. By doing these works of righteousness, our faith is perfected (James 2:22). Yes, faith without works - daily good works - is dead (James 2:26)! We glorify God by doing good deeds - deeds of charity, deeds of love, lending and giving to those in need and expecting nothing in return, entertaining strangers (which is opening our homes to those in need), visiting the sick, helping the poor, feeding the hungry and never returning evil for evil (Matt. 25:33-40). We must overcome our natures by doing all these good deeds or works for God on a daily basis (Rom. 12:21; Rev. 2:26; 1 Peter 3:13). Begin today to suffocate your old nature and its evil ways. This will allow God to put it to death and give you His nature (Rom. 16:20; Gal. 4:19). As you do, you will begin to realize why a faith without good works is dead, yes, truly dead! - Building Your Faith in God | WHOLE WHEAT
Building Your Faith in God Jesus Christ had faith in His Father because He respected His Father’s Will. He used His Father as an example. Whatever He saw His Father do, He did likewise. His Father loved Him and showed Him all things. Christ did nothing of His own initiative but He only did what He was taught by His Father to do. He always did things that were pleasing to His Father. Disciples of Jesus Christ must also learn to love and imitate the Father by doing the same deeds that Christ did—helping the poor, lame and blind; in general, living a life of doing good. We overcome our sinful natures by doing so. When we become zealous for good deeds and endure to the end, the Father is glorified. This is the way the Father wishes to be worshiped. We must be careful to do these things in the name of Jesus Christ, for the glory of the Father in heaven. Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner. 20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel. John 5:19-20 So Jesus said, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and I do nothing on My own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught Me. 29 And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.” John 8:28, 29 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. Ephesians 5:1 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. Romans 12:9 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21 He who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations. Revelations 2:26 Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. 19 We will know by this that we are of the truth, and will assure our heart before Him. 1 John 3:18-19 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. - How Do We Walk in the Spirit? | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search How Do We Walk in the Spirit? It is common for people to be confused by the expression, "Walk in the Spirit." Let us analyze what it means to walk in the Spirit. The Bible says that if we live to the flesh, we will die (Rom. 8:13). Living to the flesh is practicing the evil deeds of the flesh (Gal. 5:19-21; Matt. 15:19; Rev. 21:8). When we are baptized, we agree not to live in the flesh or live for self any longer, but to repent and start living for God by living to the Spirit. God is that Spirit, and He wants to be worshiped in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). If we perform only God’s Will in our daily walk with God, we will not carry out the desires of the flesh (Gal. 5:16). If we carry out the desires of the flesh, that is sin (1 Peter 4:1-2). But if we keep God’s Will, we overcome evil by doing good works (Rom. 12:21). If we are zealous for good works, we leave no room for our old selfish will to operate (1 Peter 3:13). Thus, we are putting to death the sinful deeds of the body by living to the Spirit, which is living for God (Rom. 8:13). God wants us to consider ourselves as dead to sin but alive to righteousness, by presenting our bodies as slaves to righteousness daily (Rom. 6:11; 1 John 3:7). We prove whose side we are on when we live as slaves to Jesus Christ (1 John 3:10). We continue doing this until we pass the hypocritical stage of the Pharisees and begin doing the Will of God gladly from the heart (Matt. 5:20; Eph. 6:6). God is glorified by good works (Matt. 5:16). We are admonished to be sure to engage in good works and to learn righteousness because this is how we walk in the Spirit (Titus 3:8, 14). Salvation is a free gift that cannot be earned, but it only goes to those who are repentant and live to serve others for the glory of God. Remember always, you were saved to serve. - Being Wholehearted in Your Walk | WHOLE WHEAT
Being Wholehearted in Your Walk Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for you are only passing this way once, and you might as well give it your best shot. This is the idea, stated in modern terminology, that Solomon was trying to get across in Ecclesiastes 9:10. It is also a godly trait. Our Creator wants us to be wholehearted, or have singleness of heart in everything we do. He wants us to be single-minded, with one purpose. So, whatever your hand finds to do, seriously, do it with your whole heart, knowing that it pleases your Creator when you put your brother’s welfare first, before your own. Do all that you do in the name of Christ, as all disciples of Jesus Christ are commanded to do. Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Ephesians 6:5 (NIV) The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. - Dying to Self | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Dying to Self Every time you say, “Not my will be done, but the Will of the Father” you die to self (Matt. 26:39). Every time you resist an evil thought, an evil impulse or an evil action, you die to self (1 Peter 5:8-9). Every time you do something kind for someone else, for God, you die to self (Rom. 12:21; Gal. 6:9). When you are tested by God with a severe trial and you accept it, persevere, and continue to do what is right, you die to self (Luke 21:19; 1 Peter 4:12-13). When you have the courage to speak what is right and expose what is evil, you die to self (Eph. 5:10-11). Every time you correct a fool in his folly in a loving manner, you die to self (Prov. 26:4-5). When you discipline yourself continually for the purpose of godliness, you are dying to self (1 Tim. 4:7). Every time you give in secret, you are dying to self (Matt. 6:1) Every time you practice righteousness for God, you are dying to self (1 John 3:7). Every time you do good for God, you are dying to self and entering the kingdom within (Luke 17:21). Overcoming evil by doing good and pleasing God is dying to self (Rom. 12:21). You cannot be converted unless you die to self daily by serving others (Mark 10:45). Dying to self is repentance (Acts 26:20). Are you dying to self by living only to the Spirit, which is what pleases God (Gal. 5:16)? If you, like the Apostle Paul, are conscious of nothing against yourself, then you are dying to self (1 Cor. 4:4). If Jesus should come back tomorrow, would you be ready? Or, will you shrink away from Him in shame when He comes (1 John 2:28)? Are you abiding in Christ by putting all of His words and all of His sayings into daily practice in your life? Then you are truly dying to self and are becoming a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17). These are the words of Jesus Christ: “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done for you. Herein is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciple” (John 15:7-8). - Do Good Works Come Naturally? | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Do Good Works Come Naturally? “When you have the Spirit of God, you just naturally do good works. You don’t have to consciously think of doing them; it’s a natural result of having His Spirit.” Is there anything wrong with the above statement? It sounds good to the ear. It even sounds reasonable. To be sure, let’s see if it holds up under the word of God. The apostles were commanded by Jesus Christ, in their three years of training, to teach people all that He commanded and taught them. What does this teach us? Jesus Christ commands us to do something (Matt. 28:20). Jesus says a determination is being made as to whether or not we will keep His commandments and bear fruit (Matt. 3:10). He says we must strive to enter by pushing ourselves, and many will not make it (Luke 13:24). We have to give up something—our old ways (Luke 14:33). We have to persevere to win our souls (Luke 21:19). We have to force our way into the kingdom (Luke 16:16). Our righteousness must surpass the hypocritical stage of the scribes and Pharisees who were hypocrites (Matt. 5:20; 23:5, 13). The Bible tells us we will eventually be like happy slaves, doing God’s Will (righteousness) from the heart (Eph. 6:6). But first we must overcome our natures by disciplining ourselves according to godliness; and to do this, we must force ourselves at times to do Christ’s works or deeds (1 Tim. 4:7; Rev. 2:26; John 14:12). We are told to fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim. 1:18; 2 Tim. 4:7). We are told to endure to the end to be saved (Matt. 10:22; 24:13; Heb. 10:36). In other words, we are to do good deeds of righteousness until the end (Heb. 10:24-25). We must not grow weary or lose heart in doing good deeds (Gal. 6:9). We have to live this Way daily to be worthy of Christ (Matt. 10:38). We are commanded to be careful to engage in good deeds for the purpose of overcoming the devil (Titus 3:8; Rom. 12:21). If we prove zealous for good deeds and allow God to crush Satan’s will in our lives, he can do us no harm (1 Peter 3:13; 2 Tim. 2:26; Rom. 16:20). Now, let’s ask the question again. “Will you naturally do good as a result of having God’s Spirit in you?” In order to continue to think that doing good is automatic for a disciple of Jesus Christ, a person would have to cancel out all of the above Scriptures, and they represent but a few of the many which can be found in God’s word on this subject (Psalm 11:7). - Renewing Your Mind in Christ | WHOLE WHEAT
Renewing Your Mind in Christ Jesus did not come to the earth to do His own Will, but to do the Will of the Father daily as it is done in heaven. Jesus did good works to glorify God in the Father’s name. We, today, are to do good works in thought, word and deed, in the name of Jesus, giving thanks through Him to the Father. We need to be filled with the knowledge of God’s Will and have our minds renewed. We cannot remain fools if we want to do God’s Will from the heart. We must diligently serve the Lord by happily practicing righteousness at all times so we can be blessed by Him and changed by Him. Then by grace, God will forgive all your sins, past, present and future. He will then give you the free gift of eternal life because you repented and brought forth good works to prove it. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. John 6:38 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. Colossians 3:17 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2 Not by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. Ephesians 6:6 Not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. - God's Instruction on Child Discipline | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search God's Instruction on Child Discipline Abraham brought his children up in the Ways of the Lord by teaching them to practice righteousness in everything they did. He taught them to practice justice by not cheating, lying or bearing false witness against others (Gen. 18:19). Children today also need to be taught to obey their parents. This is how they please the Lord (Col. 3:20). God’s word says that fathers, not mothers, have the major responsibility for disciplining their children, while mothers are to assist the fathers in regard to discipline. Fathers are commanded to bring up their children with discipline, instructing them how to please the Lord (Eph. 6:4). "For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?" (Heb. 12:7). That is quite a question in this day and age. Here are a few Scriptures from God’s word you should consider before you start disciplining. Remember, discipline without love does not work (1 Cor. 16:14; Prov. 13:1; Eph. 6:4). God’s word says, "Poverty and shame will come to those who neglect discipline" (Prov. 13:18). "He who spares the paddle, hates his son" (Prov. 13:24). "Discipline your son while there is still hope" (Prov. 19:18). "Train up a child (with discipline) in the way he should go (God’s Way), even when he is old he will not depart from it" (Prov. 22:6). Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child, but consistent discipline will remove it far from him (Prov. 22:15). "Reproof (discipline or correction) will give your child wisdom, but a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother" (Prov. 29:15). "Correct your child and he will give you comfort (rest, peace)" (Prov. 29:17). If God is wrong about child rearing, then who can be right? God is going to send the Prophet Elijah before Jesus Christ returns to this earth, before the great and terrible day of the Lord. His message will restore the respect of children to their fathers and turn the hearts of the fathers to their children. It will restore godly order in homes (Mal. 4:5-6). Let’s prepare now, fathers, so we will not be held responsible for child neglect by the Lord when He returns shortly (Luke 1:17; Acts 3:26). wholewheatonline.com Search God Wants Us to Be Good The words of a familiar song say, "He knows when you’ve been sleeping, he knows when you’re awake, he knows when you’ve been bad or good so be good for goodness sake." Yes, we constantly are telling our children to be good, but why? Good things happen to good people. The word of God says, "If the righteous are rewarded in the earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!" (Prov. 11:31). Psalm 125:4 says, "Do good, oh Lord, to those who are good." Yes, God wants children to be good. He tells little children not to let anyone deceive them, that the one who practices righteousness is righteous, even as God is righteous (1 John 3:7). He also tells the little children not to love with the words of their mouths only, but with good deeds. By this, they will know they are of the truth and be sure in their hearts that they are God’s friends (1 John 3:18-19). God wants little children to live as Jesus Christ gave them example to live, so that when He returns, they will have confidence and not shrink away in shame. God’s word tells you how to abide in Him. It says, "If you know that Jesus Christ is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness [daily] is born of Him" (1 John 2:28-29). You must, however, do all that you do in word or deed in the name of Jesus Christ, as happy slaves of Jesus Christ (Col. 3:17). You must do Gods Will - which is righteousness - from the heart (Eph. 6:6). By this you know that you love the children of God, when you love God and practice or do His commandments; and they are not hard to keep (1 John 5:2-3). You keep them by continually doing things that are pleasing in God’s sight (1 John 3:22). If you are to walk with God, then you must walk in His commandments, just as you have heard from the beginning that you should walk in them (2 John 6). You walk in His commandments by practicing righteousness - by being careful to engage in good deeds (Titus 3:8). This is something you are going to have to learn to do (Titus 3:14). But realize this, whatever good you do, this you will receive back from the Lord (Eph. 6:8). When all you sow is righteousness, all you will reap is blessings, for God is not unjust, so as to forget your work, and the love which you have shown toward His name (Gal. 6:7; Heb. 6:10). - What is Freedom? | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search What is Freedom? To Satan, freedom is doing what you want. How many wars have been fought for freedom? How many people in the past have died for freedom? With all the wars that have been fought for freedom, does the world enjoy peace? What does God’s word say about freedom and wars? James 4:1-4 talks about this; ‘What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures [your self-interest] that wages war inside your body? You lust [covet] and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain [have your own way] so you fight and quarrel. Even when you pray to God for things, you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your own pleasures [because you want what you want for self]. You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? [When you continue to live selfish, inward lives, you are continuing to live like the world lives]. Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend to the world makes himself an enemy of God.’ [This, then, is the same as committing adultery against God.] Nations fight and kill each other for the same reasons—sin and human nature. Jesus was sent to this world to show man how to escape from this human nature, which has kept him enslaved by the devil. Man is being held captive by Satan to do his will (2 Tim. 2:26). Jesus said to seek the truth and you will be set free from your present nature which is evil, compared to God’s nature which is righteous and pure. Seek the truth [God’s word] and it will set you free from all religious error which grips the world. Seek the truth and it will set you free from Satan who has deceived the whole world (John 8:32; Rev. 12:9). By daily study of God’s word by subject, you not only can prove that God exists but also that He rewards those who diligently seek Him (Heb. 11:6). You will find God’s word to be a true history of man and that the world is full of pagan, godless lies, which are being taught to your children in schools and colleges. For example, your children are being taught that writing, and the writing of books, did not occur until a recent date and as a result, books were not available to people long ago. However, in Halley’s Bible Handbook, page 51, an article is written called: “Libraries in Abraham’s Day and Schools in Abraham’s Day.” We all know that Enoch wrote several books in his day, and he lived seven generations after Adam and Eve. That book of Enoch is still available today! Man’s thoughts are being controlled today; and he is being fed rubbish. 1 Corinthians 3:19 says that the knowledge of this world is foolishness to God. It is of the earth and is demonic (James 3:15). True knowledge comes from God above. When you obey God, He not only gives you true knowledge but also wisdom for the asking. Freedom comes from keeping laws—God’s laws. When you keep God’s laws, He protects you from harm, feeds you in times of famine, protects you from disease, blesses everything you put your hand to do, gives you a long life filled with joy, peace, prosperity and eternal life (Psalm 91:1-16; Deut. 30:15; Psalm 25:13; 37:11)! You keep God’s laws in the Spirit by continually doing good. Freedom comes from knowing the truth. Freedom comes from practicing the truth. Freedom comes from getting rid of your old evil nature and having Christ’s new nature (which He has waiting for you) formed in you (Gal. 4:19; 2 Peter 1:4). He who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. You love others and fulfill that law when you only live to do good to others and serve and help them whenever you have the opportunity. Being a servant of others is imitating Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 11:1; Rom. 15:2-3). Halley’s Bible Handbook also describes how Jesus Christ lived and gave us example to live. On page 20, it says: “As a man, He lived the most strangely beautiful life ever known. He was the kindest, tenderest, gentlest, most patient, most sympathetic man that ever lived. He loved people. He hated to see people in trouble. He loved to forgive. He loved to help. He wrought marvelous miracles to feed hungry people. For relieving the suffering He forgot to take food for Himself. Multitudes, weary, pain-ridden, and heart sick, came to Him, and found healing and relief. It is said of Him, and no other (John 21:25), that if all the deeds of kindness He did were written, the world could not contain the books. That is the kind of man Jesus was. That is the kind of Person God is. And, Jesus said that those who would be followers of His would do more deeds of kindness than He did (John 14:12)! It is this precious Way of life that Jesus came to show mankind, which is called the Way of righteousness. This is true freedom. It is also the directions to eternal life (John 12:47-50; Matt. 21:32). Jesus delivered to us the words of the Father, as He was prophesied to do in Deuteronomy 18:15 and 17-19. Anyone who will not obey Jesus’ words will be utterly destroyed from among the people in the future (Acts 3:23). I think Jesus was serious when He said that unless we repent and keep His words, we will perish (Luke 13:3, 5; John 8:51). wholewheatonline.com Search Believe it or Not If you have been given ears to hear, and if you are being called of God, if you are being drawn by God’s Spirit, then there is indeed good news for you (Matt. 13:14-17; Acts 2:47; John 6:44, 65-66). Believe it or not, Jesus Christ came to bless you, by showing you how to turn from your wicked ways (Acts 3:26). The only reason you weren't living a blessed life before is your sins were withholding God’s blessings from you (Jer. 5:25). Jesus wants to make a change for the good in your life. He wants you to live the rest of your life to please Him and no longer do what is pleasing to yourself. He says if you will do this, He will bless you, answer your prayers, heal your sicknesses, forgive all your sins—even the sins of your father and grandfathers the sins you are paying for that go three or four generations back (Ex. 20:5; Num. 14:18). What a deal, and that’s not all. There is more. God will give you eternal life. He will resurrect you from the grave, should you die while living the good life, which is the God life. Yes, if you will but begin to imitate the Lord in your life and use His Spirit that He will give to you freely to live this wonderful life-changing Way, you’re on your way (Acts 5:32). God has even made a provision, when necessary, in the last days to bypass the need for a person to lay hands on you for His Spirit. All you need do is ask Him to give it to you (Luke 11:13). In regard to baptism, you can have a good friend baptize you by fully submersing you in a swimming pool, hot tub, lake, etc. (Matt. 28:19). God’s Spirit is a Spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal. 5:22-23). All these qualities can be summed up in the word charity (Luke 11:41). This is what the Lord wants you to practice towards others until He has a chance to form His new nature in you (Gal. 4:19). The Lord wants you to learn to be a servant of others so that you can rule with Him in a few short years and teach the nations of this earth righteousness (Rev. 2:26-27; Is. 2:2-4; Micah 4:1-3). The Lord wants you to learn to be a servant of others, so that you can be an example to society and perhaps lead others to His Ways by doing so (Titus 2:7). But first we must discipline ourselves for the purpose of godliness daily (1 Tim. 4:7; 6:3; Titus 1:1) so that we might be found worthy to help God in the end (Rev. 19:14-15). If we are being called to be a kingdom of priests to reign on this earth, what are we waiting for (Rev. 5:10)? It is time to learn how to serve others and learn righteousness by doing so (Is. 1:16-20; Rom. 15:2-3; Matt. 20:26-28; Mark 9:35). This is how we will abide forever (Psalm 37:27; 1 Peter 3:10-11; Rom. 12:21; Rev. 2:26). What are you waiting for? Begin a life in service to God by: • Studying God’s word each and every day (Acts 17:11; 2 Tim. 2:15). • Learning to apply it in every way. • Praying for your needs and the needs of others (1 Thess. 5:17; Col. 4:2; James 5:16). Then, keep pleasing the Lord and He will answer your prayers (1 John 3:22; John 9:31; 8:51). - The Lake of Fire | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search The Lake of Fire The pagan concept of the lake of fire is that it is an ever-burning place of torment, where unrepentant sinners go to be tortured for eternity. Close examination in the word of God reveals that concept is foolishness. God is not giving eternal life to those who are going to hell, but rather, eternal life is only going to those who are found worthy of it (Luke 20:35). Jesus says that the soul, as well as the body, can be destroyed by God in the lake of fire (Matt. 10:28). The lake of fire, then, is the second death (Rev. 20:14; 21:8). Isaiah 30:33 mentions a place called Topheth where the Lord sets a fire. This place Topheth is now a public park in the Jerusalem area. It is the place where the ancient Israelites sacrificed their children to the god Baal, which is just another name for Satan (Jer. 19:4-5). In Jesus Christ’s day, it was called Gehenna and it was the city dump. Those who died a dishonorable death were thrown into this dump area, where there were fires burning continually. People threw their garbage in there daily. The corpses were left to rot or be eaten by wild dogs. Isaiah 31:9 prophesied that this lake of fire, which is referred to also as a furnace, will be in Zion. Zion is another name for Jerusalem. Jesus Christ will start this lake of fire when He returns shortly to set up His government and rule the nations of this earth with a rod of iron (Rev. 19:15). His kingdom will have no end (Luke 1:32-33; Is. 9:6-7; 1 Cor. 15:25). We who overcome our evil natures by keeping Jesus Christ’s works, and endure to the end keeping them, will rule with Him (Rev. 2:26-27). The reward of the saved is to rule on this earth, not in heaven (Rev. 5:10; 1:6). Who goes into this lake of fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels (Matt. 25:41)? The Bible is clear that the first two customers will be the beast and the false prophet (Rev. 13:14-17; 19:20). They love statues, which God abhors. God is going to destroy those who fall away after He has put them in charge over people He is calling (Matt. 24:48-51). The goats—those who knew that God’s true message of serving others and would not repent by doing so—will also be destroyed in the lake of fire. Anyone who goes on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth will be thrown into the lake of fire (Heb. 10:26-27). This is referring to anyone who has once been enlightened, known the truth, was baptized and received God’s Holy Spirit (Heb. 6:4-8). This is anyone who has known the Way of righteousness and has started to overcome, and then went back to his old way of life and was overcome by sin or evil again (2 Peter 2:20-22). These will all be written down in a book (Jer. 17:13). Because they did not overcome evil, but were overcome by evil, they will have their names erased from the book of life (Rev. 3:5; 1 Peter 3:10-11,13; Rom. 12:21; Ex. 32:32-33). They will go into the lake of fire. Those, however, who had good works and endured to the end will come into life everlasting (John 5:29). It should be clear that practicing good works daily is important in the true gospel message of Jesus Christ. This is how we repent (Luke 13:3, 5; Acts 3:26). It is how we glorify God and let our lights shine before others (Matt. 5:16). We are blessed when we repent by doing good works, and thus, return to God (Matt. 16:27; Rom. 2:6, 10; Rev. 22:12; Acts 3:19; 26:20). We build godly character or fruit on our spiritual trees by practicing good works (Col. 1:10; Matt. 3:8, 10). This is how we imitate God and allow God to live in us (Eph. 5:1; Gal. 4:19). It is how we keep Jesus’ words and God’s commandments in spirit (John 4:24; Gal. 5:16). When we practice righteousness, we overcome our evil nature and have Jesus Christ’s nature formed in us (Psalm 34:14; 37:27; Dan. 4:27; 1 Peter 3:10-11; Rom. 12:21; Rev. 2:26). As we learn righteousness, our faith is perfected (James 2:22; Titus 3:14). We become constant doers of God’s word (James 1:22). We become kind and charitable people and righteousness (God’s Will) eventually comes from our hearts (Eph. 6:6). We clothe ourselves with Jesus Christ (Job 29:14; Psalm 132:9). This is the narrow Way, and it is not generally known or taught today (Matt. 7:14). - Am I My Brother's Keeper? | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Am I My Brother's Keeper? Cain asked, "Am I my brother’s keeper?" (Gen. 4:9). Was Jesus Christ His brother’s keeper? Did Jesus take care of His brothers who were in need of clothes, food or shelter? Did He come to the aid of widows in distress? Was He a father to the orphan? Did He give to the poor (John 13:29)? Yes! Jesus was His brother’s keeper. We, too, are to be our brother’s keeper by imitating Jesus Christ in our daily behavior (1 Cor. 11:1; Eph. 5:1). We are to practice being kind to one another. We are to practice hospitality to one another (1 Peter 4:9). We are to practice godliness toward one another. We are to conform ourselves to godliness by practicing the deeds of Jesus Christ (1 Tim. 4:7). We are to overcome and put to death our old self by zealously living as Jesus did until He makes us new creatures, complete in Christ (Rev. 2:26; Col. 1:28). We allow Him to do this by striving, persevering and being zealous for doing good deeds in His name because we love Him (Luke 13:24; 21:19; Rev. 3:10; Col. 3:17; John 14:15; 1 John 5:3). We prove our love for God by serving Him with our whole heart, soul, mind and strength (John 15:8; Luke 10:27; Matt. 22:37). We prove our love for Him by being slaves to righteousness and doing the Will of God from the heart (Rom. 6:13, 18-19; Eph. 6:6). We prove it by the way we live. Yes, we are our brother’s keeper when we serve our neighbors first, before self (1 Cor. 10:24). One of the main messages in the new covenant of Jesus Christ is serving others (Matt. 20:26-28; 23:11; Mark 9:35; 10:43-45; Luke 9:48; Rom. 15:2-3). Dorcas was used as an example for those who would follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ (Acts 9:36). She was her brother’s keeper because she served others daily for Jesus Christ (Acts 9:39). Jesus Christ Himself said that only those who have good works will come to a resurrection of life, so don’t you think it is time we start to imitate Him and be our brother’s keeper (John 5:29)? We need to overcome evil by continually doing good, as Jesus said we should (Psalm 34:14; 37:27; Rom. 2:7; 12:21; 1 Peter 3:10-11; Rev. 2:26). Then, when we, like Jesus, live only to do good, we will be living as we should and we will be our brother’s keeper, for either we become our brother’s keeper or we remain of the evil one, like Cain (1 John 3:12). - Let’s Play By The Rules | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Let’s Play By The Rules “He who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber” (John 10:1). Jesus Christ is the “door” (John 10:7). He is the Way. He is the one you should listen to. Those who do not preach His pure, complete message are blind guides of the blind, ministers God did not plant; they are Satan’s ministers disguising themselves as ministers of Christ (Matt. 15:13-14; 2 Cor. 11:13-15). They promise people freedom when they themselves are servants of corruption. “Go not after them,” Christ says (Luke 21:8). They keep you on a guilt trip while ℹ️the message of Jesus Christ frees you from all the religious deception that grips this world. The message of Jesus Christ brings you into the abundant life (John 10:10). Jesus Christ was righteous, because He kept His Father’s sayings (John 12:47, 50). Jesus Christ would not have been righteous if He refused to keep His Father’s sayings. The Father’s sayings are righteous and Jesus Christ subjected Himself to that righteousness (Rom. 10:3). God’s righteousness became Jesus Christ’s righteousness (Heb. 5:9). Then Jesus Christ’s righteousness became the Apostle Paul’s righteousness, because Paul imitated Christ and taught others to do the same (1 Cor. 11:1). God is reproducing Himself. He is making more sons of righteousness. You are born again when you practice ℹ️righteousness (1 John 2:29). Practicing righteousness is what makes you righteous in God’s eyes (1 John 3:7). Doing righteousness is how you glorify God (Matt. 5:16). Christ is making righteous people for Himself (Titus 2:14). You cannot grow weary in doing good deeds unless you are doing good deeds (Gal. 6:9; 2 Thess. 3:13). Who is there to harm you if you do not prove zealous in doing good deeds for God (1 Peter 3:13)? Your nature! We are our own worst enemy (Gen. 4:7). If we are not living for God every day, we are by nature, living for Satan (2 Tim. 2:26). Let God put him to death for you and make you a son of His (Rom. 16:20). Learn to play by God’s rules! Live a life of righteousness daily for God’s glory!❑ PREV NEXT 3 SIMPLE STEPS TO GET STARTED All About the Bible PDF MORE BIBLE STUDIES PODCASTS HOME © 2025 Whole Wheat International
- Rejoice in One Another's Blessings | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Rejoice in One Another's Blessings Proverbs 8:32 says, “Blessed are they who keep My Ways.” It is wonderful how this righteous Way of life brings many blessings from God. This verse in Proverbs is a promise that will be fulfilled by God when we live to please Him continually. John 10:10 says that Jesus Christ came so that we might have life and have it abundantly. Yes, He came to give us the truth on how to live each day. By living His Way, we are blessed abundantly. As we live this special Way every day, different areas of our nature will pop up that we will need to overcome. In Galatians 5:19-21, it describes our human nature. In this article, I will not list all the deeds of the flesh, but rather point out two that each one of us needs to be aware of and overcome. These two deeds of the flesh are jealousy and envy (Gal. 5:20-21). Years ago, if a friend of mine received something new that I wished I had, I remember feeling a jealous and envious spirit inside of me. I might have even said to my friend, “Oh, that’s nice,” but I was thinking something entirely different. Satan took that opportunity to whisper in my ear, “Why not me?” Just watch children and see how easy it is for them to get jealous or envious of others. A child’s birthday party can be an excellent example of this. One child is showered with gifts, while the other children just watch and lust over the birthday child’s gifts. This is a perfect opportunity to teach your children about the evils of jealousy and envy, and to help them overcome it. As parents, however, we must first be the example. How can we expect our children to overcome jealousy and envy when we have not? Remember, it was because of jealousy and envy that the Pharisees killed our Lord, Jesus Christ. Jealousy and envy are diseases of the flesh, and we can see how important it is to put these deeds of the flesh to death. A friend of mine purchased a new car. Her neighbor told her, “You don’t deserve a new car.” My friend said, “Why not?” The neighbor said, “You don’t even have a garage to put it in.” Whoa, was that jealousy and envy, or what? Of course, the neighbor had a garage, but was driving an older car and perhaps felt that the new car should be in her garage. Let’s look in 1 Corinthians 13, “The love chapter,” and see what love really is. Verse four says, “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous!” In 1 Corinthians 13:5 it says, “Love does not seek its own.” Love is not selfish or jealous. Love wants only good for everyone. It does not seek to satisfy its own lusts. When someone receives a special blessing, are we truly, from the bottom of our hearts, happy for them? Or, when we feel the person is not deserving, do we have an envious, jealous attitude like, “Boy, I don’t think she deserved to have that!”? Who are we to judge? Blessings and curses alike come from God. He is the judge of who gets what and when. It’s time to have a pure heart and only be happy and rejoice in another person’s blessings. First Corinthians 12:26 tells us, “If one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.” Yes, when our brothers and sisters in Christ, friends and neighbors are honored with blessings, we are to rejoice with them. We always need to think only the best of each other and just be happy for each other, because this is how we glorify our Father in heaven. If you have this problem and you see others being honored or blessed, check your attitude, and make sure you do not say to yourself, “I should have what they have.” Take this opportunity to overcome the problems of jealousy and envy, and thus, perfect holiness in that area of your life. - God's Childlike Gospel | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search God's Childlike Gospel God’s childlike message is simply: Live to please your heavenly Father each day. We, as earthly parents, teach our children not to use foul language and not to use God’s name in vain. We want our children to learn to do good by doing what is right and good on a daily basis. This pleases God and us. We bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Eph. 6:4). We teach them to share what they have with others, and be concerned for the rights, welfare and comforts of others. We do our best to teach them to be honest, loving, charitable, giving and forgiving human beings. We teach them the principle that doing good works for God daily brings great rewards into one’s life (Eph. 6:8; Heb. 6:10; Rom. 2:6; Matt. 16:27). Everyone is eagerly waiting for the world to become a better place, but few people are interested in being the first to make it a reality, by living God’s Way each day. Now that’s not too much to ask, is it? After all, we were created to find the purpose of our existence and then perform it on a daily basis (Eph. 2:10). That purpose is to overcome evil by practicing good so we will abide forever, and be considered worthy to attain to the age of the resurrection (Psalm 37:27; Phil. 3:11; Luke 20:35). Employers, law officers, judges, mayors, governors and kings are all pleased with people who have built good character in their lives. People maintain good character by continually doing those things that are right and good. Will you remain a problem of the world or will you be part of the solution? Will you be one who cares, or one who could care less about others? As parents, we teach our children to have good character. Good character is living by godly principles that are pleasing to God as well as man. This is God’s Will, and Jesus Christ said doing it is easy and pleasant (Matt. 11:30). God’s commandments are not burdensome or hard to keep, but pleasant (1 John 5:3). It does not take great intelligence to do God’s Will. It just takes simple, daily obedience to a living, heavenly Father who wants to bless those whom He has created (Acts 3:26). If we are created in God’s image, is it right for us to live like the devil, talk like the devil and walk like the devil, daily ignoring God in heaven? This gospel message is so easy, even a child can understand it! But it takes the mind of a child, and the simple obedience of a child, for an adult to live it. Time is running out and the Lord is going to come when no one expects He will (Matt. 24:44). Will you be a child of God and fulfill the Scriptures that the righteous are commanded to fulfill? Or will you, by omission, be fulfilling the Scriptures that the wicked fulfill? - How to Receive the Abundant Life | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search How to Receive the Abundant Life Jesus Christ came with good news. It was good news about the abundant life, and how to qualify for the kingdom of heaven (John 10:10; Luke 8:1; 2 Thess. 1:5). He came to show and to tell us how to live this Way of life. He said a child would have no trouble understanding or living this Way (Matt. 18:3). To further demonstrate the simplicity of this Way of life, He said sinners of the worst sort and people who were considered fools, weak-minded or lowly would have no trouble living this simple, pure, godly way of life (Matt. 21:31; 11:25; 1 Cor. 1:26-29). One simply needs the attitude and willingness of an obedient child to a loving Father to start living this Way of life (1 John 3:7, 10; Luke 18:17). What is this Way? It’s called the Way of righteousness (Matt. 21:32; Acts 18:25-26; 19:9, 23; 22:4; 24:14, 22). It is the Way to live righteously and blamelessly before God (Phil. 1:10; 1 Cor. 1:8; Psalm 18:30). A person lives this Way by learning to practice righteousness and by doing good deeds for others and those in need (1 John 3:7, 18-19). Doing our good deeds in Jesus Christ’s name, for the reason of glorifying God in heaven, is showing Him we really love Him (Col. 3:17; Matt. 5:16; 1 John 5:3). When we imitate the Way He lives in heaven, His Will is done instead of ours (Eph. 5:1). If we live just to please Him, He lives just to please us (Heb. 13:21). Living to please the Lord daily by doing good toward others is living by the Spirit, who is God (Gal. 5:16-17, 25). Satan has control of our old nature, or our flesh, but when we begin living to please God by living to the Spirit, Satan loses control. When we practice righteousness for God, we stop carrying out the evil thoughts and desires of the flesh. By committing our ways—our thoughts, words and deeds—to the Lord, we are putting to death the deeds of the flesh and overcoming our old nature (Gal. 6:15; Rom. 8:13). Then, if we endure and don’t grow weary in doing good deeds, we will allow Jesus Christ to put our old nature under our feet, weakened and crushed (Heb. 10:36; 1 Peter 5:10; Gal. 6:9; 2 Thess. 3:13; Rom. 16:20; 2 Tim. 2:26). When we cease from all works of the flesh, we will enter the Lord’s rest (Heb. 4:10). We will then enter the abundant life, which the Lord has waiting for all who put Him first in their lives by turning from their wicked ways (1 Thess. 3:8; Rev. 22:11; Acts 3:26). - Be of One Mind in Christ | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Be of One Mind in Christ God in heaven is making new creatures in Christ (Gal. 6:15). He is doing this by creating Jesus Christ’s nature in us (Gal. 4:19). In order to do this, we must undergo testing (1 Peter 5:10; 4:1, 12, 16, 19; 2 Cor. 4:10). Some tests will be more severe than others, but the Lord assures us we can handle these tests (1 Cor. 10:13). We will be tested in our morals. We will be tested in our loyalty and faithfulness. Above all, God wants us to be of one mind in Christ. In order to cause us to be of one mind, God allows Satan to stir up strife, opposition, dissension, factions, controversies, enmities, jealousy, anger and disputes among those who will give in to such things. When practiced, these evil things will keep you from inheriting the kingdom of God and eternal life (Gal. 5:19-21). God must find out who will participate in these things so He can root them up from among those He is testing (1 John 2:19; 1 Cor. 11:18-19; Jude 1:16). This is how we are perfected by God into being one-minded in Christ Jesus (Phil 1:27; 2:2). We are to separate ourselves from the world and all that entangles it (2 Cor. 6:16-18; Heb. 12:1; Rev. 18:4). God warns us not to be filled with dissipation, which is the wasteful expenditure of time, or the day of the Lord will come upon us as a trap (Luke 21:34)! We are to draw near to God and His Ways and away from the things of the world (James 4:8; John 15:19). Anything in this world that stirs up strife, confusion, factions, anger and disputes we are not to participate in as these are the deeds of the flesh (Gal. 5:19-21). We are to pursue holiness, according to God because without holiness no one will see the Lord (Heb. 12:14). We are to seek peace and pursue it earnestly (1 Pet. 3:11). We are to be wholly devoted, allowing God’s Ways to direct our lives (1 Kings 8:61; Jer. 10:23; Prov. 16:9). We are to speak as though they were the utterances of God, as we go about imitating Him (1 Pet. 4:11; Eph. 5:1). His opinion becomes our opinion, because in the end, His opinion is the only one that matters. After all, He is our Creator and knows all. We will stand before Him, and only Him, on judgement day to give an account for our lives (Rev. 20:12; Rom. 14:12). Certainly, it is possible that those who participated in dissension, factions, controversies and disputes, might later on repent. But God is not going to give eternal life to those who cause divisions and dissensions, like Satan did so many years ago (Jude 1:19). God must root them out. It is God’s way of finding out who will remain loyal to God’s Word (Prov. 21:21). Satan was not loyal to God. He thought he could do God’s job better. He found fault with the way God was doing things. He thought he knew more than His Maker and Teacher. God teaches His ministers and then sends them out saying, “The person who accepts you accepts Me” (Matt. 10:40). Jesus was accepted by few and rejected by many. The same was true of His ministers. This is a test of whether or not you will be true to God Almighty. If you reject the one God sent to tell you the truth, you have rejected Jesus Christ (Luke 10:16). This is what God’s word, which cannot lie, says! The only exception to this is if that person stops living for God and falls away from the faith (1 Cor. 11:1). People who fall away from God’s one true faith and give in to Satan, flunk the test. It’s as simple and plain as that. That’s why God’s word warns us to take notice of (mark) those who are causing divisions and avoid them (Rom. 16:17). These people deceive other people by their smooth speech and the unsuspecting, dumb or foolish ones go after them (Rom. 16:18). That’s why God’s word commands that there be no division—none, not one. God wants those who are His perfectly joined together with the very same mind—that mind which was in Jesus Christ our Lord (1 Cor. 1:10). Jesus Christ says, “Every minister which My Father did not plant or appoint will be rooted up” (Matt. 15:13-14). They will bring upon themselves swift destruction from the Lord if they don’t or won’t repent (2 Peter 2:1). Be very careful who you are listening to, be careful with what you are watching and what you devote your time to (Matt. 6:22-23; Psalm 101:3). Ask yourself, is this in agreement with God and His Ways? Does this promote holiness in my life? Be loyal, be faithful and endure to the end, loving others with one mind, one goal and one aim—to please the Lord Jesus Christ in all areas of our lives and daily walk with Him (Phil. 1:27; Eph. 4:4-6). God is not fooling around and we shouldn’t be either. Justifying one’s actions might work now, but it won’t work on judgment day. Loyalty to God’s Word and the one who preaches His truth is loyalty to God Himself (Matt. 24:45-51). Make your mind up to be of one mind with God. Imitate Him in all your ways to be pleasing to Him in all respects (2 Cor. 5:9; 3 John 1:11; John 8:29) . There is no time to lose! - How to Accept Jesus Christ | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search How to Accept Jesus Christ How can we accept Jesus Christ and be certain that He lives in us? Jesus makes a plain statement in John 14:23-24 that if we keep His words, His Father loves us, and He and His Father will come to us and make their abode with us. He also makes it abundantly clear that if we won’t or don’t put His words—which He received from the Father—into daily practice, we definitely do not love Him. It should be clear, then, that Jesus lives only in those who keep His words and put them into daily practice. The words Jesus spoke are spiritual, and continually abiding in them—doing what He said—is the only way to assure that you have eternal life (John 15:6-7; Luke 6:45-48). “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life” (John 6:63). Jesus’ spiritual words are the directions to eternal life, as well as how to live a blessed life while here on earth (Acts 3:26). Jesus said plainly that He could do nothing by Himself, unless it was something He saw the Father doing (John 5:19). No wonder we are to imitate Him daily (1 Cor. 11:1)! We are to be pleasing in God’s sight, just as Jesus was, by living the Way He gave us example to live (Jer. 27:5; Eph. 5:10). If we were to write down all the things Jesus told those who follow Him to live, we would have the exact directions and requirements for eternal life. We would know exactly what is expected of us as true disciples of Jesus Christ. Jesus says plainly, if we keep His words, by living them daily, we will never see spiritual death (John 8:51). Then, whatever Jesus did or said must be the Will of the Father, that we must imitate daily, if we are to abide forever. “The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the Will of God abides forever” (1 John 2:17). If we say we believe in Jesus and expect to never die, we must live the life that Jesus lived as our example. Jesus said, “Everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:26). Many do not. Many are taught they need do nothing to be saved. The word “believe” means obey and adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ (John 3:36). In order to accept Jesus Christ and be sure He is living in you, you must obey Him daily. You must live as He lived. It’s just that plain and simple! - How Stubborn Are We? | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search How Stubborn Are We? In the parable of the sower, the only persons who made the grade when they heard the true message of the kingdom where those whose seed was sown on good ground (Matt. 13:23). The good ground represents those with an honest and good heart (Luke 8:15). There are few people with honest and good hearts and that is why many are called and few chosen. It is also why very few find the narrow Way (Matt. 7:14). You cannot know the message of God unless you live the message by being a daily doer of good. You must put into practice the truth in order to come to the understanding of the light (John 3:21). You must be willing to do God’s Will in order to know the teaching (John 7:17). You must live the message in order to say you believe in Jesus Christ, then and only then will you never die (John 11:26). To believe in the Son is to obey the Son, and to obey the Son, you must keep His sayings and do them and perform them (John 3:36; 8:51; 12:47-48; Luke 6:46). The message of repentance is always the same. Overcome evil by doing good if you expect to abide forever (Psalm 34:13-14; 37:27; Rom. 12:21; 1 Peter 3:10; Dan. 4:27; Is. 1:16-17; Zeph. 2:3). This is just what our evil nature does not want to hear. It wants to be told the message that says do nothing and you will be saved (Titus 1:16). When you hear this message, you are warned not to harden your heart - by not living it right away. The message of serving others and doing good becomes nothing more than a good intention to the many, but those few with honest and good hearts begin immediately so their hearts do not begin to harden. A hardened criminal is one who is given every opportunity to change but doesn’t. His desire is to remain who he is and not be told what to do. What happens to those God has called, who have less than an honest and good heart? Are they doomed to be destroyed in the lake of fire? In Revelation 3:15, the Lord is disturbed by those who do not continue to worship Him with their whole heart by being zealous or hot for good works (Titus 2:14). These people had been greatly blessed by God but then became lukewarm for good works for God’s glory (Matt. 5:16). This spiritual sickness happens to many (Rev. 2:5; 3:1-2). This is also what happened to the ancient Israelites when they had the same good news preached to them (Heb. 4:2). God wishes that none should perish so he helps the disobedient to repent. God disciplines us for our own good (Heb. 12:10-11). In the very near future, He will bring many to repentance by bringing on the plagues of Revelation. He will make the sun seven times brighter or hotter to scorch men in order to force their evil natures to repent (Rev. 16:8-11). He will make hail, about 127 pounds in size, come down to get people’s attention and help them repent. A worldwide earthquake will topple all the tall buildings in all the cities of every nation (Rev. 16:18-19). Even Jerusalem will be split into three parts. However, people will continue to blaspheme God (Rev. 16:21). Everyone on this earth will wonder what’s happening? But those who serve the Lord by serving others and live to please Him in all their ways will understand clearly what’s happening. They will have been given eyes to see by God because they have been obedient to His voice—the Bible (Rev. 17:8-9). They are the ones who have come out of religious confusion, religious Babylon, and worship God with their bodies by the way they live (Rom. 12:1). They are continually helping those in need, which is pure religion, undefiled (James 1:27) The Day of the Lord is not to be taken lightly (Zeph. 1:14-18; Is. 66:15-17). God wants us to return to Him so that He can return to us (Zech. 1:3-4; 7:10-12) Notice, the message of how to repent has never changed. Good works are necessary for repentance (Acts 26:20). This is the one message that caused the people to despise the prophets of old. These prophets were sent by God Himself to instruct the people on how to repent and amend their ways, deeds and actions. You’ll never have trouble telling a boy scout to do good; however many Christians seem to have trouble with it. God has told us all along what is good and what He requires of us, but many refuse to listen (Micah 6:8) The word of God is clear that the majority of those God is calling, in the last days, will suffer greatly to be perfected by Him. All one needs to do is review these few Scriptures: Revelation 6:11; 9:15; 13:7; 14:12-13; 18:24; 20:4; and 2:10. God in His mercy will even save those who are lukewarm by testing them severely, if necessary. What a great and wonderful God we live to serve, one who cares more for us than we do for ourselves (Ezek. 33:31-33)! Hallelujah! - How to Glorify God | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search How to Glorify God God is glorified every time we do things that are pleasing in His sight (Matt. 5:16; 1 John 3:22). God blesses us when we do things like helping the needy, the shut-ins, the old people, the sick, the lonely, the hungry or those who are in need of clothes (Psalm 41:1-3; Luke 3:10-11; James 2:15). He also includes the widows and the orphans, as well as those who are in prison on His list of people we can help (Matt. 25:33-40). Helping others on a one-to-one basis for God’s glory is true discipleship (1 John 3:17)! Oh, how the world needs more true believers! Yes, it needs more sheep and fewer goats (Matt. 25:33-40). It needs more doers and fewer hearers (James 1:22). It needs more wheat and less chaff (Matt. 3:12). The “good seeds” are the true disciples God is making, the doers of the word. The “tares” are religiously-deceived Christians Satan is deceiving (Matt. 13:33-40). They are also called “dogs.” Satan is keeping them deceived, thinking they are converted when they are not (Phil. 3:2). They say they know God, but you can tell by their lives that they deny Him. They are still living detestable, disobedient lives because they are worthless for any good works (Titus 1:16)! Christ is making people who are zealous for good works, while Satan is making tares, goats, chaff, and bad fish (Titus 2:14). Satan wants his people to ignore God in heaven by not performing God’s Will, which is righteous acts of love and charity done toward others, on earth. Many people say that works are not necessary for salvation, so they don’t do any (Titus 3:8, 14). But we were created in Jesus Christ for good works (Eph. 2:10). God is glorified by good works (Matt. 5:16). True disciples of Jesus Christ are warned not to get weary in doing good works (Gal. 6:9; 2 Thess. 3:13). God says we seek glory, honor, immortality and eternal life by doing good works for His glory (Rom. 2:7; John 5:29). Doing good works for the glory of God daily is true repentance! It is how God is able to crush Satan’s nature and form Christ’s new nature inside us (Rom. 16:20; Gal. 4:19). We are being called from a life of bad works to live a life of overcoming evil by doing good works (Rom. 12:21; 1 Peter 3:11; 2:12). Satan hates good works done for God because he knows that is how God is glorified and how his nature is put to death in our mortal bodies (Matt. 5:16). It is only those who glorify God by works of charity and kindness, and thus esteem His name, that God will spare and rescue in the soon-coming day of the Lord (Mal. 3:16-17; Daniel 12:1; Luke 21:36). - How Do We Overcome Evil? | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search How Do We Overcome Evil? God created the earth (Gen. 1:1). He created man with free will. He told man to obey Him so He could bless him. But man refused to obey, so God told man that he would live a cursed life apart from God (Gen. 3:6, 17). Cain refused to obey God and chose, rather, to live for himself and do what he thought was good (Is. 48:17). By choosing the way of self and leaving God out of his life, he did evil deeds (1 John 3:12). One of his evil deeds was killing his brother because his brother was practicing good deeds for God. Cain was cursed for not practicing righteousness to please God (Gen. 4:7, 11). Cain was of the devil (1 John 3:12). Enoch walked with God, which means he lived as God lives (Gen. 5:22). He imitated God by practicing righteousness and doing good works to glorify God (Matt. 5:16). He did his Father's Will in heaven instead of his own will (Matt. 6:10). Enoch was God's friend because he practiced righteousness instead of the evil deeds of the flesh. He walked with God, which means he kept God's Ways. Noah practiced righteousness to please God and overcame his old nature (Gen. 6:9). He was considered righteous, blameless, complete, holy, upright, saintly, godly, and any other nice words you want to use to describe him. Noah was a preacher of righteousness (2 Peter 2:5). He couldn't have been a preacher of righteousness unless he practiced righteousness daily for God. Abraham brought up his family to practice righteousness (Gen. 18:19). So did Moses. He asked God about that special Way he could live to please Him (Ex. 33:13). God told him that Way and he kept it (Heb. 3:5). Daniel overcame evil by doing good for God and told the king the same message (Dan. 4:27). Job practiced righteousness for God and there are long lists of how he did it (Job 1:1; 29:12-17). Jesus Christ did good works to please the Father by doing only the Father's Will, which is doing good. He was serving God by serving others for the glory of God (Rom. 15:2-3). Jesus told us to do all the things He did. He said to help others zealously in His name for the Father's glory (1 Peter 3:13; Matt. 5:16). When we do this, we are able to overcome evil and God will be faithful to bless us for all the good we do in His name on a daily basis (Rom. 12:21; Heb. 6:10). Has God started to bless you yet (Matt. 16:27; Rom 2:6-7; Rev. 2:23; 22:12)? Why not start living God's Way today? - Make Your Ways Straight | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Make Your Ways Straight There are many different expressions in the Bible instructing believers to walk with singleness of mind, singleness of eye or singleness of heart. Hebrews 12:13 commands, "Make straight paths for your feet." Making straight paths for your feet is walking in righteousness at all times - continually. To always walk in righteousness is to always please the Lord. To always please the Lord we must constantly remember to please Him with our thoughts, words and deeds (Col. 1:10). We must refrain from sin and engage in those things that are good, edifying, honorable and profitable for others (Titus 3:8). Walking with singleness of mind and heart is being intent on serving and pleasing only God (Matt. 6:24). He is number one in your life, in your heart and in your mind. You must make Him number one in your actions. Psalm 106:3 says, "How blessed are those who practice righteousness at all times." God will do good to those who are good, but you cannot be good unless you do good for God daily, in secret (Psalm 125:4; 37:27; Matt: 5:16). You must not do your good because you want people to know of the good you do for others (Matt. 6:1). To make your ways straight, then, please the Lord in all you do. Seek God by doing good to please Him. Turn away from a life of sin to a life of righteousness (Rom. 12:21). This is the way of peace (Luke 1:79). It is also the way to prosperity, blessings, answered prayer, joy and every good thing (Prov. 13:21; 1 John 3:22; Heb. 13:21). So do not deprive yourself of the good life with the free gift of eternal life that comes from living a godly life. It is the life Jesus Christ lived, and He came to show us how easy and pleasant it is (Matt. 11:30). You will soon be a new you, if to His Ways you remain true (Gal. 6:15; Col. 3:10, 12-17). - Pure and Undefiled Religion | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Pure and Undefiled Religion When we analyze James 1:27, we find out what God expects of us. "This is pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father, to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unspotted by the world." Whatever this "pure religion" is, it has to do with helping widows and orphans who are in need. This goes along with 1 John 3:17-18 and James 2:15-17. It also goes along with what John the Baptist told the people to do for repentance (Luke 3:10-11). Even Christ was teaching the message of compassion toward those in need in Luke 10:33-36. He taught us to put the welfare of others first and to be servants of the most (1 Cor. 10:24; Matt. 23:11; 20:26-28; Mark 9:35; 10:43-45). Jesus said true disciples - the sheep - serve others in need, while false Christians do nothing (Matt. 25:33-46; Titus 1:16). These false Christians are considered goats or dogs, while true disciples worship in the Spirit of God, give the glory to Jesus Christ and put no confidence in the flesh (Phil. 3:2-3). True disciples glorify God by doing good works daily, allowing their lights to shine before men in such a way that they bring glory to the Father (Matt. 5:16). Continually doing good for God's glory is our spiritual service of worship (Rom. 12:1). We worship God by presenting our bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, using the members of our bodies as instruments of righteousness only (Rom. 6:13). In this way, we become happy slaves of righteousness (Rom. 6:18-19; Eph. 6:6). God is well-pleased with this kind of sacrifice (Heb. 13:16). Doing good is also how we put to death the evil deeds of the body and live to the Spirit, which is God (Rom. 8:13-14). When we walk in the Spirit by serving others for God, we will not carry out the desires of the flesh (Gal. 5:16). Instead, we will be overcoming evil by doing good for God in Christ's name (Rom. 12:21; 1 Peter 3:11; Col. 3:17). We will be keeping Christ's works and overcoming Satan by allowing the God of peace to crush him in our nature (Rom. 16:20; Rev. 2:26). This is pure and undefiled religion, and this is how we keep ourselves unspotted by the world. This simple, pure devotion to Christ is simply walking as Jesus walked; and it is so easy and pleasant (2 Cor. 11:3; 1 John 2:6; Matt. 11:30)! You have no excuse for your sins now that you know how to overcome them (John 15:22). When Jesus Christ returns to this earth shortly, will you be among those who are found overcoming evil by doing good in a dark world (Phil. 2:15; Luke 18:8)? Will you be prepared to meet the Lord (Luke 1:17)? PREV NEXT 3 SIMPLE STEPS TO GET STARTED All About the Bible PDF MORE BIBLE STUDIES PODCASTS HOME © 2025 Whole Wheat International

wholewheatonline.com Search Spiritually in Tune With God Have you ever telephoned someone you had on your mind and discovered that person was also thinking of you just before the phone rang? How much more spiritually in tune is God to our every thought (Psalm 94:8-11; 125:4; 1 Cor. 3:20)? There is a way to become spiritually in tune with God, just as there is a way to become spiritually out of tune with God. When we live in sin, we are spiritually out of tune with God. We are in tune with Satan’s wavelengths and we are doing Satan’s will (2 Tim. 2:26). When we repent and come out of a life of sin by living a life of righteousness, we become in tune with the Father, who is righteous (Psalm 11:7; 145:17). All unrighteousness is lawlessness or sin (Rom. 3:23; 1 John 3:4; 5:17). This is why the one who repents is to imitate what is good by doing good (3 John 11). We are to imitate God daily instead of Satan (Eph. 5:1). We are to do good daily instead of evil. Instead of being slaves to unrighteousness, God wants us to repent and become slaves to righteousness (Rom. 6:13, 17-19). God’s Will is righteousness (Psalm 106:3). Satan’s will is lawlessness or unrighteousness. God is righteous and He wants us to imitate Him by practicing righteousness daily (Eph. 5:1). He wants us to glorify His name with good works (Matt. 5:16). Jesus laid out those works in the parable of the sheep and goats found in Matthew 25:33-46. Satan is an enemy of all righteousness and good works when they are done in secret for the glory of God (Matt. 6:1; Eph. 6:6). Why? Because that is how he is crushed in our natures and put under our feet by God (Rom. 16:20). Good works and righteous deeds are God’s Will. When we do good works daily on earth as they are done in heaven, we are in tune with God (Matt. 6:10). Now, all we need to do is stay in tune with God (Matt. 24:13). We will have Jesus’ nature formed in us (Gal. 4:19). We will overcome the evil in our lives by continually doing good toward others for God (Rom. 12:21; 1 Peter 3:10-11, 13). We will have our prayers answered because we are doing God’s Will and pleasing Him in all we do (1 John 3:22; John 8:29; 9:31). Not only that, because we are seeking first God’s kingdom by practicing righteousness for God, the Lord will give us all the things we need (Matt. 6:33; John 8:51). So, what are you waiting for? The Lord is waiting for you to become spiritually in tune with Him. PREV NEXT 3 SIMPLE STEPS TO GET STARTED All About the Bible PDF MORE BIBLE STUDIES PODCASTS HOME © 2025 Whole Wheat International
- Our Perfect Example of Suffering | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Our Perfect Example of Suffering Jesus Christ came to show man the life of God, which true disciples are to live to become partakers of the new divine nature. The suffering Jesus went through was for His perfection. He became obedient through suffering. Christ was made perfect by the Father through His suffering (1 Peter 4:1). He was the perfect example of the conversion process to all those who obey Him and have eyes to see (Heb. 5:8-9). When you discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness, or when you are disciplined by God the Father for the purpose of having Christ formed in you, strange things begin to happen to you (1 Tim. 4:7; 6:3; 2 Peter 1:4; Gal. 4:19). Old friends turn their backs on you. People you have loved and helped begin to persecute you (Matt. 5:10). All kinds of fiery ordeals that are rather perplexing begin to happen to you. Slowly, you begin to realize that you are undergoing tests sent by the Father for the perfecting of your faith (1 Peter 4:12-13). Some of those tests could be personal tragedies in the home. Maybe your wife or husband turns against you (Matt. 10:36). Maybe your children become your adversaries. Sickness may strike you or your loved ones (Dan. 8:27). It could be boils as Job had or a grievous sore as Hezekiah experienced (Job 2:7; 2 Kings 20:1). Your grievous trial could be an accident or a sickness that brings you near death. The Bible records many examples of sickness that can help us understand the purpose for suffering. Lazarus was sick (John 11:1). Another disciple of Christ, Epaphroditus, was sick to the point of death (Phil. 2:25, 27). Many disciples who were backsliding were sick and many of them died (1 Cor. 11:30). Paul left Trophimus, a disciple of Christ, in the city of Miletus because he was sick (2 Tim. 4:20). Dorcas, a disciple of Christ, became sick and died, and then was resurrected (Acts 9:36, 40). James tells us what to do when we become sick (James 5:14). Once you understand suffering, you begin to understand the conversion process. Suffering is the method God uses to weaken sin in our bodies and to perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish godly character in us (1 Peter 5:9-10). Just remember to be zealous in pleasing God daily and everything will work out for good (Rom. 8:28). Who will harm you if you are doing good, saying good and thinking good things all the time, to please God (1 Peter 3:13)? When you are zealous for God, that proves to God you are not seeking to save your old life. Instead, God sees you are seeking to please Him with all your heart and all your soul and all your strength (Matt. 22:37; 2 Cor. 5:9; 1 Cor. 15:58). He sees you are hot, zealous and on fire for what is good (Titus 2:14). But if your deeds are lukewarm, you are forcing God to spit you out of His mouth and severely test you (Rev. 3:15-16). wholewheatonline.com Search Lukewarm “So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth” (Rev. 3:16). God despises those who are lukewarm in pleasing Him. Why? The lukewarm person is like a worthless employee who isn’t putting out much work. He is not totally useless, yet, he is not very productive either. He doesn’t merit firing from the job, nor would you rehire him for the job if he quit. He aggravates you like a festering sore that just won’t heal. What would you do if you were God and someone you were trying to convert, and form Christ’s nature in, wasn’t putting much effort into overcoming his old self by doing good (Gal. 4:19; Col. 3:6-9; Rom. 12:21)? What would you do with someone who was lukewarm? Well, when coffee becomes lukewarm, you put a fire under it to heat it up. That is just what God does to lukewarm people (1 Peter 1:6-7; Dan. 11:35). If you know what you are reading is true, don’t harden your heart by not living it (Heb. 3:15; Rev. 3:15-16, 18-19). God is determined to save us, even if we are not determined to overcome. The only way we can lose, then, is to entirely quit living for God; but if we endure to the end, we will be saved (Matt. 24:13; 10:22). Many are called to ℹ️overcome, but there will be few chosen because few will continue to overcome until they have been made complete (Matt. 22:14). The Lord says, “Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your ℹ️deeds completed in the sight of My God” (Rev. 3:2). The love of many will grow cold (Matt. 24:12). But God commands that, “In reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit” (Eph. 4:22). “Put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him” (Col. 3:8-10). You must not love your old life unto death by seeking to save your old life and continuing to live a sinful life. Instead, lose your old life, ℹ️by living Christ’s life, and you will save your eternal life (Matt. 10:39). It’s that simple. - An Honest and Good Heart | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search An Honest and Good Heart This is the seed that fell on good soil: “The ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance” (Luke 8:15). This parable is talking about the many ways a person can receive the true message of the kingdom when heard for the first time. People who have an honest and good heart immediately put the message into action, which means they immediately repent. They hold fast to the message by studying their Bibles in a systematic way so as to prove all the things they are learning about the true kingdom message (James 1:25). They persevere in doing this, which means they are consistent in their study of the Bible. They are consistent with their bearing fruit and, as a result, their personal growth as new disciples of Jesus Christ is excellent. They are excellent examples in the eyes of God from the very first day. Because of this beautiful attitude toward God’s true message, they become effectual doers and are blessed by God in everything they do. Because they seek the kingdom by practicing righteousness for God daily (that makes it God’s righteousness), all things are added to them—clothes, food, good jobs, prosperity and many other wonderful blessings (Matt. 6:33). They are not living for self any longer but now live only to do the Will of God. Their prayers are answered because they do only those things which are pleasing in God’s sight (John 9:31; 1 John 3:22). They consistently discipline themselves for the purpose of godliness and as a result, they are forcing themselves into the kingdom within (1 Tim. 4:7; Luke 16:16; 17:21). Because of their honest and good hearts, they are constantly good examples for God. They know it pleases God to be good examples for Him and to constantly provoke others to do more works of love for His glory (Heb. 10:24; Matt. 5:16). Because of this constant condition of maintaining an honest and a good heart, their righteousness quickly surpasses that of the scribes and the Pharisees and, as happy slaves of Jesus Christ, they do the Will of God from the heart and they enter the kingdom of heaven (Matt. 5:20; Eph. 6:6). We can see that receiving this message with an honest and a good heart and then holding fast to this true message and bearing fruit in every good work with perseverance is the narrow attitude we must have to enter the kingdom of God (Luke 8:15; Col. 1:10). This is the narrow Way that very few find. It is the narrow Way which few who strive to enter, succeed in entering (Luke 13:24). The key to the true message of the kingdom is attitude. Many of the Pharisees and religious leaders of Jesus Christ’s day did not accept the message of the kingdom because they had bad attitudes. The examples given to us in the parable of the sower are all the attitudes fatal to the message, followed by the attitude that will cause one to grow and grow in the message. The last attitude, striving to maintain an honest and good heart before God daily, is the attitude that leads to life eternal. Therefore, let us fear (be sober) while a promise of entering His rest by entering the kingdom within still remains, lest any one of us should come short of entering (Heb. 4:1). We should all want to receive God’s message with a good attitude. We should receive the message with an attitude of gratefulness, an attitude of humbleness. Jesus assures us His Way is very easy and pleasant so let’s not make it difficult by having a wrong attitude about the Way of righteousness (Matt. 11:30; 21:32). Let us persevere in being servants to others for the glory of the Father, as Jesus Christ gave us commandment to do (Col. 3:17). In all things, let us show ourselves to be examples of good works (Titus 2:7, 14). - How to Be Complete in Christ | WHOLE WHEAT
How to Be Complete in Christ What does the Apostle Paul mean when He tells us to be "complete"? A person who is complete has perfect love coming from a pure heart and a good conscience. He is constantly showing God’s love to others by his actions. An incomplete person lives in fear of doing wrong. He is constantly at odds with his nature. He wants to do one thing, but God’s word says to do something else. A person who is not yet complete is in the process of realizing, like Paul, that nothing good dwells in him and that he must be set free from his evil nature. As long as you are fighting the good fight, overcoming evil by doing good, and practicing righteousness in your daily life to please God, you are abiding in Jesus Christ. You are not walking according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Your body is alive to righteousness because you are daily putting to death the deeds of the body and living to the Spirit by practicing righteousness. Yes, there will be some suffering involved in this process, but it is only a little. When you are complete, you will walk in perfect love with no fear inside. God will have perfected your faith as a result of your works. Your life will radiate peace. Your mind will be at peace. Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. 2 Corinthians 13:11 But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1 Timothy 1:5 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. 19 For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. Romans 7:18-19 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 1 John 4:15-16 For if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. Romans 8:13 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. 1 John 4:18 You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected. James 2:22 He must turn away from evil and do good; He must seek peace and pursue it. 1 Peter 3:11 PREV NEXT Click below for full Bible Study: What Does Complete Mean?
- The Quality of Your Spiritual Life | WHOLE WHEAT
The Quality of Your Spiritual Life First of all, God created mankind on this earth to seek Him, find Him and obey Him. He did this so mankind could live a peaceful long life—full of abundance and every good thing. All the Lord God wants man to do is to do what is right (do well) to please Him, so man would feel good about himself. God has given us examples in His word of those who obeyed Him and were blessed and those who disobeyed Him and were cursed. God used certain men called prophets to write what He told them to write, as well as speak what He commanded them to speak. It was the same message over and over again to mankind—practice righteousness and practice justice toward your fellow man, and thus do your neighbor no harm but only good. Is this too much for God to ask of us, considering eternal life is also connected to this beautiful Way of righteousness? Jesus was zealous for good deeds towards others. If you do not learn to imitate Him by keeping His words and by being zealous for good deeds towards others too, then you deny Him in your daily life. We were created for good works, just as we were created to fulfill Scripture, but we must be careful to fulfill the Scriptures of the righteous by keeping Jesus’ words and putting them into action in our daily walk with Him. This is most definitely the good life and God’s true message to mankind! If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it. Genesis 4:7 For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even feel remorse afterward so as to believe him. Matthew 21:32 They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed. Titus 1:16 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. - The Pearl of Great Price | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search The Pearl of Great Price Matthew 13:45-46 The pearl of great price is the knowledge of God’s Will. God’s Will is a mystery and the Lord reveals that mystery to His disciples only and not to the world (Eph. 1:9). God’s Will is the integral part of the message of the kingdom of God, which the Lord is only revealing to a few, those who have been given ears to hear and spiritual eyes to see in God’s word (Matt. 13:11, 16-17). The very proof that God’s Will is a mystery is very simple to demonstrate. How many of those who profess to be disciples of Jesus Christ do God’s Will on this earth daily, just as it is being done by God in heaven (Matt. 6:10)? How would you even know what that Will is, unless it has been revealed to you by God. The Will of God is not only typified as a pearl but also as the keys to the kingdom of heaven (Matt. 16:19). For unless you know the Will, you do not know the Way—if you do not know the Way, you are still religiously deceived, because you have received an incomplete gospel and incomplete message of salvation. This is why an angel of the Lord told the apostles to speak the whole message of this life (Acts 5:20). There were many gospel messages being preached in Jesus Christ's time, just as there are today, but the messages remain incomplete because they are only partial messages. It is because of this missing truth, the pearl of great price, that a person's life cannot change so he or she can become a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17). Then what is this pearl of great price? What is this hidden knowledge that will allow a person to repent and enter the kingdom of heaven within (Luke 13:3, 5; 17:21)? It is the message of righteousness—it is the Way of righteousness (Matt. 21:32; 2 Peter 2:21). It was simply called “The Way” by the followers of Jesus Christ some 2,000 years ago (Acts 18:25; 19:9, 23; 22:4; 24:14). It was a righteous Way of life, doing as much good for others as they possibly could daily. Jesus being their example, they were doing deeds of kindness and charity continually in their daily walk with God (Acts 9:36). Some of them were actually doing greater works of righteousness than Jesus did while He was here on this earth (John 14:12). Jesus had to return to the Father so He could send His Spirit, which would allow His followers to put on new natures and become new creatures in Christ Jesus (John 14:17-18). This powerful Spirit of truth would allow a disciple of Jesus to crush his evil nature with its evil passions and desires and become a new creation (Gal. 5:24; 6:15). The disciples were told that if they continually practiced righteous deeds towards one another, God would build in them a new nature. He would form Jesus' new nature in them (Gal. 4:19). They were not only told to engage in good works daily for repentance, but they were also warned not to get weary in well doing, for in due time they would reap the new natures as well as blessings from the Lord (Titus 3:8; 2 Thess. 3:13; Gal. 6:8-9). This is how we overcome our evil natures (by continually doing good) like Jesus overcame and gave us example of how it’s done (Rom. 12:21; 1 Peter 3:10-11; Eph. 2:10; Rev. 5:5). We are to overcome our evil natures by keeping the deeds that Jesus gave us example to keep, if we are not to be hurt in the second death (Rev. 2:26; 2:11). So the pearl of great price is God’s Will and God’s Will is righteousness—and that righteousness that we are to practice, daily on this earth, is the words that Jesus received from the Father (John 5:19; 8:51). For this is how we enter the kingdom of heaven, when the righteousness comes from our hearts and is no longer hypocritical (Matt. 5:20; 6:1; Eph. 6:6-8). Jesus said His Ways were very easy and pleasant to do (Matt. 11:30). Of course, we will never know unless we put our hands to the plow (which represents doing good works for God for repentance) and force our way into the kingdom within. We cannot look back (Luke 16:16). Hundreds, if not thousands, are now engaged in righteousness daily for God's glory. It is beyond human words to explain this glorious new Way of life. The Way of righteousness is God’s Way of purifying us for Himself, by being zealous for good deeds for the Lord (Titus 2:7, 14; Col. 3:17). Don't be a goat any longer but a sheep. Be a doer not a hearer. We are all saved by grace, so we should no longer live a disgraceful life before our Maker, but imitate His Way of life daily (Eph. 5:1). - Satan’s Number One Weapon | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Satan’s Number One Weapon ‘Feeling Sorry For Yourself’ People who feel sorry for themselves indulge in the flesh and its corrupt desires (Rom. 8:13). The symptoms of feeling sorry for self include grumbling, complaining and finding fault with others (Jude 14-24; 1 Cor. 5:7; Gal. 5:16, 19-21). Consider the force that motivate those who practice the deeds of the flesh mentioned in Galatians 5:19-21. One thing they all have in common is the fact that they feel sorry for themselves. Before a man robs a bank, he must first think of the idea. Then he must dwell on it (James 1:14-15). He must then justify his actions by feeling sorry for himself; then the act is committed. These people have been overcome by Satan’s number one weapon—self pity. Now take a moment and reflect upon your sins of the past and how feeling sorry for yourself was an integral part of each sin. If you are honest with yourself, you must admit that when you feel sorry for yourself, you open yourself up to Satan. When you allow Satan to make you feel sorry for yourself, he will tempt you to continually justify what you want that you shouldn’t have, until the evil deed is accomplished. The Apostle Paul said that he had learned the secret of being content in whatever state he found himself (Phil. 4:11). That’s quite a secret and this article explains that secret in detail. How can we put to death and destroy Satan’s number one weapon? The first thing we must do is become aware of the different ways we can feel sorry for ourselves. Don’t allow yourself to feel sorry for yourself in any area of your life because that is not accepting the day God has for you to help you ℹ️overcome. It is not positive, not good, not wholesome, not uplifting, not creative and it is non-productive thinking (Phil. 4:8). Self pity turns people off on your personality. It is the source of sick self-love. We need to train and discipline ourselves according to righteousness, according to the right things we should be doing for God. We need to train ourselves to be content, train ourselves to be happy, train ourselves to study God’s word on a daily basis and train ourselves to pray for others as well as our own needs (1 Tim. 4:7; Eccl. 3:22; 2 Tim 2:15; James 5:16). When we trust in God in all things, then feeling sorry for ourselves is no longer part of our character. It has been replaced by total ℹ️faith. God’s word admonishes us to be content with our wages (Luke 3:14). Godliness is a means of great gain, if and when it is accompanied by contentment (1 Tim. 6:6). If you have enough to eat and clothes to wear, you should be content (1 Tim. 6:8). Let your life be free from the love of money and be content with what you have. You have God as your friend, your protector, your provider. You have eternal life dwelling in you. Can you see how much faith our brothers and sisters had in the past? Even upon martyrdom, many said with bold confidence, “The Lord is my helper, I shall not fear what man shall do to me” (Heb. 13: 5-6). Let us put to death Satan’s number one weapon. We must destroy it by practicing contentment in the areas of our life that are not now content. We need to continually be on guard that our hearts are not weighted down with the worries of this life. We need to become godly examples to others who are running the race and fighting the good fight. We are either God’s example or we become ℹ️stumbling blocks to others. We must bring all facets of our lives into the captivity of what Jesus Christ said we should do. He has given us His Spirit so that we have the desire to do what we should, and we have His personal power to help us do it. He has given us the same power that created this world. Nothing shall be impossible to us. So, let us continue to fight the good fight of faith and not gripe or complain, bellyache or feel sorry for ourselves any longer. The time is short. Redeem this time for the days are very evil. PREV NEXT 3 SIMPLE STEPS TO GET STARTED All About the Bible PDF MORE BIBLE STUDIES PODCASTS HOME © 2025 Whole Wheat International
