wholewheatonline.com Search A Faith That Works Doctors practice their profession daily to become successful doctors. Baseball players practice their profession daily to become successful baseball players. Many times we see people jogging along the side of the road disciplining themselves for sports or for good health (1 Cor. 9:24-25). How many people discipline themselves for the purpose of godliness (1 Tim. 4:7; 6:3; Titus 1:1)? How many people try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord (Eph. 5:10)? How many force their bodies to behave (1 Cor. 9:26-27)? How many are imitating Jesus Christ daily (1 Cor. 11:1)? How many Christians are practicing their profession daily? Did Jesus Christ have a working faith or a faith with no works (James 2:14, 17-18, 22, 24, 26)? Did His faith work for Him and was He able to overcome the world because of it (John 16:33; Rev. 3:21)? Yes, Jesus had a faith with good works, and not just a few (John 14:12; 21:25; Luke 24:19). He practiced what He preached. He overcame the pulls of the flesh so He could be an example to the world of how it was done (Heb. 2:17-18; 4:15; 5:8-9; 1 Cor. 10:13; James 1:13-14). If Jesus had been married and had children, you had better believe His wife would have been in loving subjection and His children would have been well behaved. His message would not be believable if this were not so (1 Tim. 3:4). How could He teach others about God, if He failed to teach His own family? Yes, Jesus’ gospel worked for those who believed it and put it into practice because it had good works! - The Mistake of the Pharisees | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search The Mistake of the Pharisees The fatal mistake of the Pharisees was that they were doing righteousness for the wrong reasons. They were doing righteous acts to be seen of men and not to glorify God (Matt. 5:16). Jesus was constantly reminding them of what they were doing wrong but they were living so much to the flesh, they could not hear the words of the Spirit (Matt. 9:13; 12:7; Prov. 21:3). Jesus was telling the Pharisees how to clean the inside of the cup by being true servants to others so they would not be hypocrites (Matt. 23:11, 25). He was telling them how to enter the kingdom of heaven within (Matt. 23:13; Luke 17:21). This is the key to knowledge of how to be truly converted from the inside. In the example of the good Samaritan, Christ was showing the Pharisees that the people they called religious fakes were more compassionate to the needy than they were (Luke 10:30-37). Those who handled the Law of Moses were holding people back, keeping from them the keys to the kingdom (Luke 11:52). The understanding of how to enter the kingdom was then given to Peter (Matt. 16:19). Peter knew what the Pharisees were doing wrong. Many Pharisees did repent and become obedient to the faith (Acts 6:7). Unrepentant sinners do bad works. Repentant sinners do good works for God - works meant for repentance (Acts 26:20). Performing good works for God by imitating Jesus Christ’s works is how you overcome the deeds of the flesh (Rev. 2:26). You live to the Spirit (Rom. 8:13-14). Then you do not carry out the desires of the flesh (Gal. 5:16). Once you put your hand to the plow, which represents doing good works for God, do not look back or get weary of well-doing (Gal. 6:9; 2 Thess. 3:13). Soon you will be a new creation with Christ formed in you (Gal. 6:15; 4:19). Then you will be complete (2 Cor. 13:9, 11). You will also be a peculiar person, zealous for good works and not worthless, but worth more (Titus 2:14; 1:16). This is the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness and it requires discipline (Titus 1:1; 1 Tim. 4:7). If anyone advocates a different doctrine than this, he is conceited and understands nothing (1 Tim. 6:3-4). Be a sheep and not a goat (Matt. 25:33-46). Allow God to crush Satan (your old nature) under your heel (Rom. 16:20). Soon, as a happy slave of Christ, you will be doing the Will of God from your heart and will escape from the snare of the devil which traps others to do his will (Eph. 6:6; 2 Tim. 2:26). You will not be caught making the same mistake the Pharisees of old made. - Lukewarm | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Lukewarm “So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth” (Rev. 3:16). God despises those who are lukewarm in pleasing Him. Why? The lukewarm person is like a worthless employee who isn’t putting out much work. He is not totally useless, yet, he is not very productive either. He doesn’t merit firing from the job, nor would you rehire him for the job if he quit. He aggravates you like a festering sore that just won’t heal. What would you do if you were God and someone you were trying to convert, and form Christ’s nature in, wasn’t putting much effort into overcoming his old self by doing good (Gal. 4:19; Col. 3:6-9; Rom. 12:21)? What would you do with someone who was lukewarm? Well, when coffee becomes lukewarm, you put a fire under it to heat it up. That is just what God does to lukewarm people (1 Peter 1:6-7; Dan. 11:35). If you know what you are reading is true, don’t harden your heart by not living it (Heb. 3:15; Rev. 3:15-16, 18-19). God is determined to save us, even if we are not determined to overcome. The only way we can lose, then, is to entirely quit living for God; but if we endure to the end, we will be saved (Matt. 24:13; 10:22). Many are called to ℹ️overcome, but there will be few chosen because few will continue to overcome until they have been made complete (Matt. 22:14). The Lord says, “Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your ℹ️deeds completed in the sight of My God” (Rev. 3:2). The love of many will grow cold (Matt. 24:12). But God commands that, “In reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit” (Eph. 4:22). “Put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him” (Col. 3:8-10). You must not love your old life unto death by seeking to save your old life and continuing to live a sinful life. Instead, lose your old life, ℹ️by living Christ’s life, and you will save your eternal life (Matt. 10:39). It’s that simple. - Condemnation | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Condemnation Satan wants you to feel condemned in your life. He wants you to feel unworthy. He wants you to be overcome with feelings of guilt and despair. He wants you to give up and say, "What’s the use. I can’t do it, it’s too hard. I can’t be the kind of person I want to be. I don’t have time to do it. I can’t be someone I’m not." When we say these things, we give in to our human nature and we are held captive by Satan to do his will (2 Tim. 2:26). Satan’s will is full of excuses so we can justify our bad behavior all day long. God wants us to overcome Satan’s sick will in our human nature (Eph. 2:3). He wants us to replace it with His Will (Matt. 6:10). He wants us to do the same Will Jesus did and overcome just as Jesus did (John 4:34; 6:38; 16:33). In fact, one of the reasons Jesus Christ came to this earth was to show us how to overcome our old fleshly wills by practicing only the Father’s Will in our daily lives (1 John 3:7, 10). We overcome Satan’s will, by performing Christ’s deeds in our lives on a daily basis (Rev. 2:26). God’s Will is righteousness. When we practice righteousness for God daily, we are keeping His Will (Matt. 7:21). We are to practice righteousness to please God by committing all our ways - our thoughts, words and deeds - to Him (Matt. 5:16; 2 Cor. 10:5 1 Peter 4:11; Col. 3:17). As we live to please the Spirit, we will crush and suffocate the deeds of the flesh, putting them to death in our bodies (Rom. 8:13; 16:20). We will be worshiping God with a pure heart the way He wishes to be worshiped, and we will understand why Christ died - so we could live righteously (John 4:24; Heb. 13:16; 1 Peter 2:24). Yes, Satan wants us to keep our ways condemnable so we will keep on feeling condemned (1 John 3:21). God wants us to make our ways commendable by happily performing righteousness to please Him every day (Heb. 13:21; James 1:22, 25, 27). Let’s continually serve others from a pure heart, so we can have confidence before God every day and be ready to meet Him when He returns (Rom. 15:2-3; 1 Cor. 10:24; 1 Tim. 1:5; 1 John 3:18-22). - Learning to Live to the Spirit | WHOLE WHEAT
Learning to Live to the Spirit A disciple of Jesus Christ, after baptism, is to live to the Spirit in order to please God. How is this done? Before you became a disciple of Jesus Christ, you were by nature living to the flesh. That means that you were thinking your own thoughts and saying your own words. You were directing your own steps and living the way you thought was best. Now you have agreed to live your life to please God, like our example Jesus Christ did. Living to the Spirit is living to please the Father, who gives His Spirit to those who obey Him. What does the Father want us to do in order to live to the Spirit? He wants us to glorify Him by doing good works. Many people believe we live this way naturally after accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. Scripture shows clearly that this is a false conception. Look at the world. It is a mess! Many people who claim to be Christians are practicing a faith without good works. As a result, they remain spiritually dead in their faith. They are becoming religious, but not holy; and without holiness, no one will see the Lord. We cannot possibly be holy without obeying and practicing the words of Jesus Christ each day. This takes godly discipline, but just remember, it is easy and pleasant. It is wonderful. Try it! You will love it and the Lord will love you too. And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him. Acts 5:32 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? 17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. 18 But someone may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” 19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. 20 But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? 22 You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God. 24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 In the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. James 2:14-26 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. Hebrews 12:14 (KJV) Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? - Surprise Opportunities | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Surprise Opportunities The phone rings. It could be a friend, relative or neighbor who needs help! It might be the neighbor next door or down the block. It might be someone in another city or even another state. The chips are down! The clock is ticking, you only have minutes or maybe even seconds to make a decision. Can I help? Will I help? Is my life enough in order so I can help? Or would I have to answer to an out-of-town person in need, “Well, I would really like to come and help but my laundry isn’t done. Maybe next time you’re in need I’ll be more prepared and organized.” Do you always try your best to keep things organized and done for God so you can be ready and willing to help someone for God? An example would be keeping up on laundry so you can pack an overnight bag in just seconds. Are your children obedient so they can help? Can you give them instructions or leave them lists of things to do and know that these things will be done (Eph. 6:1-3)? Do your children understand that what you do, you do for God, and helping out at home and being good kids is their way of doing God’s Will (John 6:38; 1 John 3:22)? Do you have a good, trusting relationship with your spouse so you can make those split-second decisions when necessary? Will your spouse know and understand that the decision you made was a godly choice? Do you know in your heart, without doubt, that your spouse will accept your choice, so you will have a free heart and mind to help the person or persons in need? Can you handle an unexpected out-of-town visit leaving your spouse and children behind? How would you cope? Would you go around feeling sorry for yourself, making the people in need aware of your suffering? Or could you put aside your personal feelings to give your whole heart, soul and mind to the person in need, for God (Gal. 5:14; Matt. 22:37-39)? Anytime you help someone, they need to be your only concern (1 Cor. 10:24). The best way to accomplish this is through much faith and constant prayer to God. Especially if you are summoned out of town to help someone in need, a constant communication through prayer to God can and will get you through any situation (2 Tim. 1:3; Eph. 6:18). We need to always be ready, willing and able to lend a hand and do God’s Will. We must prepare ourselves for the surprises, as well as for our planned daily service to our Lord, by putting on the full armor of God (Eph. 6:11). How do we do this? By studying God’s word daily, praying and putting His words into practice daily (2 Tim. 2:15; John 8:51). We will then be fully prepared for anything or anyone God sends our way. - The First Church | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search The First Church Every religion calling itself Christian tries to imitate the doctrines of the New Testament church. Let us review what happened after that first day at Pentecost. After the outpouring of the Holy Spirit with fire on the day of Pentecost, the apostles, full of the Holy Spirit, began to preach Christ’s message of salvation. The apostles were preaching the message taught them personally by Jesus Christ during His ministry. The message of God reached more people every day (Acts 13:48; 2:47; 18:10). Believers met in homes. Some groups were large and some small, depending on how many people God was calling from a certain area. Sometimes, the apostles would want to go one way, but the Holy Spirit, being the Spirit of Christ, would stop them (Acts 16:6-7). Paul rented a building in one location and preached in houses at other times (Acts 20:7, 20; 28:30-31). Paul taught the people to engage in good deeds and told them that this is something they would have to learn to do (Titus 3:8, 14). The apostles taught the people to keep Jesus Christ’s sayings and works in their daily lives (John 12:47; 14:12; Rev. 2:26; Luke 9:23). In some locations, because of the number of people, it became necessary to have some form of organization. This was to prevent confusion and to get the task at hand done. People were becoming completed disciples in those days (2 Cor. 13:9, 11; Col. 1:28). They were new creations with Christ formed in them (Gal. 6:15; 4:19). Sometimes they became weary in doing good deeds for the needy in their community (Gal. 6:9; 2 Thess. 3:13; Luke 3:11; 14:13; Acts 20:35). They were doers of the word (James 1:22). They bore fruit in their spiritual lives (John 15:8). The wealthy were rich in good works (1 Tim. 6:18). The thieves were told to get jobs so they would have money to give to people in need (Eph. 4:28; 2:10). God was working mightily through all kinds of people in the early church. God taught people directly as they lived for Him (John 6:45; 1 John 2:27). Much good was done by each individual in the early church (Acts 10:4)! People did good on a person-to-person basis (Acts 9:36). Everyone was striving to be the servant of the most and doing many mighty works to glorify God in heaven (Matt. 5:16; 23:11; 1 Peter 2:12, 15-16; 3:11). They understood that good works are necessary for spiritual growth, building godly character and overcoming and they were not lacking in those areas (Acts 26:20; Col. 1:10; Titus 3:14; 1 Tim. 4:7-8; Rev. 2:26). More churches today should imitate these doctrines! Don’t you agree? PREV NEXT 3 SIMPLE STEPS TO GET STARTED All About the Bible PDF MORE BIBLE STUDIES PODCASTS HOME © 2025 Whole Wheat International

- Repent to Believe the Gospel | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Repent to Believe the Gospel Who would ever expect to read in God’s word that you must repent in order to believe the gospel? We all know that obeying what the gospel says is repentance (Mark 1:15). Then there must be some Scriptures that would be hard to accept when we read them in God’s word. We would reject them in our spirits. What are some of these hard to accept Scriptures? In 3 John 11, God’s word states that only the one who does good is of God. How about people who don’t do good? Yes, you cannot say you are a true follower of Jesus Christ, unless you are continually doing good each day towards others like Jesus gave us examples to do. This affects a lot of people today who say they are saved, but who are not. Many people today exclaim they are born again—washed by the blood of Jesus. In order for this to be true, they would not only have to know the truth, but practice that truth daily in their lives (John 3:21; 1 John 1:6). That truth is keeping Jesus’ deeds in our lives daily (which is called “the light”) and daily imitating the Way He came to show us how to live. This is how to have the blood of Jesus Christ cover our sins (1 John 1:7). God’s word is emphatic when it says you must practice righteousness to be born of God (1 John 2:29 New American Standard Version). Obedience to Jesus daily is required for the forgiveness of sins—so says God’s word that cannot lie (1 Peter 1:2). How many people today say, “Lord, Lord!,” yet they are not doing what Jesus told them to do (Luke 6:46)? They are not overcoming the evil in their lives by continually doing good for God each day (1 Peter 3:10-11; Psalm 37:27; Matt. 5:16). How many people realize that using our bodies as instruments of righteousness each day is NOW our spiritual service of worship to God (Rom. 12:1-2; Rom. 6:13). Jesus is constantly giving examples in His word to those who are worshiping Him in the wrong way. They profess to know God, but by their daily works or deeds they deny Him. They are not overcoming evil by doing good for God each day. They are still living detestable and disobedient lives before God each day. Why? They are not doing good as Jesus said they should (Titus 1:16). They are still living lawless lives, sinful lives before God because those who teach them are telling them that they need not do anything to receive salvation—it is a free gift. This is only half-truth, just like the half-truths Satan used to tempt Jesus with (Eph. 2:8-9; Matt. 4:1-10). It’s as simple as this. God is calling people out of a life of lawlessness into a life of righteousness. If you are not living that life of righteousness, you are still living a life of lawlessness (1 John 3:4). Sin is lawlessness, so those who live lawless lives have not yet repented. Noah and all the true prophets of God, including Jesus and His disciples, preached that a life of righteousness is required daily by God for repentance. They knew that eternal life was a free gift of God but you must be found worthy to be given that gift (Luke 20:35 NASV;2 Thess. 1:5). What makes you worthy for the resurrection of eternal life is a life of good works or good deeds. Jesus said so Himself in John 5:28-29. We were created for good works (Eph. 2:10). So then, those who preach the incomplete truth of Ephesians 2:8-9 without explaining verse 10 in detail are preaching lawlessness. And that’s exactly what the ministers were doing whom Jesus gave as an example in Matthew 7:22-23. They were preaching lawlessness because they were not preaching that we must do righteousness each day to please the Lord, and we are to overcome evil by continually doing good like Dorcas (Acts 9:36). Instead, their disciples are described in Titus 1:16. In Matthew 7:13 it says that this is the broad way that leads to destruction, which many are following today because they are not being told how to repent. Repentance is a daily life of righteousness and good works done for God’s glory—called the Way of righteousness (Matt. 21:32; 2 Peter 2:21). How can you imitate God unless you keep Jesus’ words or sayings (John 8:51; Eph. 5:1)? How can you keep Christ’s words or sayings unless you do the works or deeds of Jesus in your daily life and overcome the evil in your life (John 14:12; Rev. 2:26; 3:21)? Jesus said, “Repent and believe the gospel or you will perish” (Mark 1:15; Luke 13:3, 5; Heb. 10:24)! Being Tested in Your Faith When you decided to stop living to the flesh and started to live to the Spirit by practicing righteousness to please God every day, things started happening to you that you may not understand. The Apostle Peter says not to be surprised at the fiery ordeal that comes upon you for your testing. Do not think that some strange thing is happening to you. Instead, remember that you are sharing in the sufferings of Christ. Keep on rejoicing so at the revelation of His glory, you may rejoice with great enthusiasm. Look what is happening to you! "After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you." You are being made complete in Christ. You are being made into a new creation. For if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. Romans 8:13 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; 13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation. 1 Peter 4:12-13 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. 1 Peter 5:10 Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. 2 Corinthians 13:11 For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. - Who Do You Really Worship? | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Who Do You Really Worship? Many people don’t realize the fact that ignoring God daily is worshipping Satan. Living for self is worshipping Satan. The love of money and selfish ambition is the source of every evil thing and is worshipping Satan (1 Tim. 6:10-11). Being religiously deceived is worshipping Satan. Being deceived by anything or anyone of the world is falling prey to Satan’s schemes, and therefore worshipping Him. If anything of this world takes precedence in your life, over what you know to be true according to God, it has become an idol in your life and you are worshipping the world, who’s ruler is Satan (2 Cor. 4:4). If one’s emotions are too strongly set on something, that is wrong and it has become an idol. Idolatry is defined as excessive love, adoration or devotion to anything such as food, drink, clothing, cars, boats, homes or pleasure. These things are idolatry (Col. 3:5; Ezek. 14:7). Love for money makes money one’s idol. It is wrong to idolize anyone whether it be fame, politics or otherwise. When we do this, we put what we idolize before God (Matt. 4:10; Isa. 2:22). We are to seek the truth and the truth will set us free (John 8:32). The Bible says God’s word is truth, and we are expected to study it, obey it and practice the truth to come to the knowledge of the light—real truth (John 3:21; Deut 28:15; John 3:36, Ps. 106:3; Ezra 7:10; 2 Tim 2:15 KJV). The true worship of God involves walking in the Law by keeping it in the Spirit (Rom. 12:21; 8:13; John 4:24). The true worshipers of God live as God lives by keeping His Ways. They imitate God and His Son daily—living holy, righteous, blameless, perfect lives as Jesus Christ, King David, Job and Noah did (Eph. 5:1; Matt. 5:48). True worship of God is not hard (1 John 5:3). In fact, it’s very easy and pleasant (Matt. 11:30). But it does require obedience to a loving Creator. True worship of God through a holy Way of life is all but nonexistent today. Only the empty form of pagan rituals remains. Very few people live the “God life.” Very few experience the good life which is filled with peace, prosperity and every good thing. People have substituted a form of religion for holiness (Rom 10:2-3; Mark 7:6-9). And therefore, they practice idolatry instead of God’s pure and undefiled religion, which is simply serving those in need and staying unstained by the world (James 1:27). Who proclaims and substitutes this form of religion that is not of God today? False ministers. They appear as nice guys on the outside, but inside they are ravenous wolves in sheep’s clothing (Matt. 7:15). Many wear different clothing or a robe to make people think they are very religious or holy. Many thrive on notoriety and love to sit in places of honor at banquet tables (Matt. 23:1-7; Luke 20:46; Mark 12:39) How can you distinguish false ministers from God’s true servants? God’s ministers can be recognized by their fruits, and those fruits are good works (Col. 1:10). Their message should be to repent and overcome evil by engaging in good works daily for the glory of God (Rom. 12:21; Matt. 5:16). These good works are to be done in the name of Jesus (Col. 3:17). If Jesus is purifying for Himself a peculiar people who are zealous for good works, then His true ministers would themselves be examples of good works (Titus 2:7-8, 14). Halley’s Bible Handbook says on page 643; “One of the indictments of false teachers was that they were “unto every good work reprobates” which means they express their disapproval of good works and are not of God’s elect, when looking up the word reprobate. It then references Titus 1:16; “They profess to know God but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.” False ministers then, would be enemies of good works for God, preaching over and over that works are not necessary for salvation (Acts 13:10). Then the people, not knowing their Bibles and not caring to know their Bibles, blindly go along to the slaughter, following their blind leaders (Matt. 15:12-14). They both fall into a ditch or rut, and nobody puts on the new nature and gets rid of the old (Eph. 4:22-24). No one becomes a new creature with Christ formed in him (Gal. 4:19). No one becomes complete (2 Cor. 13:9). Jesus says the greatest in the kingdom will be the servant of the most (Matt. 23:11). People are not told to be servants of others for the glory of God; they are told, instead, to let the church do the good works. They are told, “If someone is in need, call your pastor.” He is a righteous man, so they believe. But if so, he should be duplicating himself by the hundreds. People should not be looking up to him, but to Christ, their true example of daily righteousness. How many do you know who walk like Christ, talk like Christ, do Christ’s works daily, and are overcoming their evil natures (1 John 2:6)? How many slaves of righteousness do you know (Rom. 6:19)? Do you know any slaves of Jesus Christ who are doing the Will of God—the Will being righteousness—daily on this earth, just as it is being done in heaven (Rom 12:2; Eph. 6:6)? How many put God first in their life above all else? Jesus gave us examples, but many people give Him excuses. What’s yours? wholewheatonline.com Search What is the Bible? To best understand what the Bible is, let’s first consider what the Bible is not. The Bible is not an ancient collection of myths or stories or something to put on your coffee table with pressed flowers or a four-leaf clover in it. The Bible is not a book to be ignored, because we will all be judged by the words that are in it (John 12:47-50). The Bible is, however, a spiritual book of writings by men who were moved by the Spirit of God (2 Peter 1:20-21). The Bible is the living word of God. We are to live by every word of the Bible (Matt. 4:4). It is a book telling us how to obtain eternal life. It contains the answers to all the mysteries of life. The Bible contains the directions on how to enter the kingdom of God, be converted on the inside, and thus, have the peace that surpasses all human comprehension (Matt. 5:20; 7:21; Phil. 4:7). The Bible tells of all the blessings we will receive for obeying it and all the curses we will receive for ignoring it. The Bible tells us who we are and how to overcome our evil natures. The Bible tells us how we can please God, and what God will do for us when we please Him. If we ignore God’s word by not studying it daily, we are ignoring God (Acts 17:11). God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, in the weakness of the flesh to show us how easy it is to please the Father and to be rewarded with the free gift of eternal life (Phil. 2:7). Jesus was the living word of God, which means He lived by the words of God. We are to live by every word of God so we can be living words of God also. The Bible tells us not to be foolish, but to understand what God wants us to do, and then do it (Eph. 5:17)! Jesus said His Way is very easy and pleasant, and some of us will do greater works than He did (Matt. 11:30; John 14:12). The Bible says we are foolish if we think works are not necessary for repentance (James 2:20; Acts 26:20). We must study God’s word to show that we love God (2 Tim. 2:15, King James Version). We need to engage in acts of righteousness for repentance (Titus 2:7; 3:8). Remember, if the righteous are saved with difficulty, what will happen to the person who continues to live to the flesh and not to the Spirit (God) (1 Peter 4:18; Rom. 8:13)? Only those who seek God by pleasing Him will find Him. Start today, and you will be on your way. Be a godly example to others for God; be ready at all times to explain the truth to them in love by knowing the Scriptures well (1 Peter 3:15). This is what the Bible truly is for; to learn God’s Will, apply it in our daily lives, and then share it with others. wholewheatonline.com Search God Keeps Records Many people believe God has gone off somewhere and is ignoring His creation or just doesn’t care anymore. People don’t stop to realize that they have gone astray and are ignoring their Creator by doing their own thing. They don’t really care whether there is a God or not. Does God know your every thought? Does He see all that you do? Do you get away with anything? Does He keep track of all these things in a book of remembrance (Mal. 3:16)? The Bible says God has a book of life (Psalm 69:28; Rev. 20:12). It is a book that God Himself has written (Ex. 32:32). Whoever sins against God will be blotted out of that book (Ex. 32:33). Every description of your body and its inward parts are in that book (Psalm 139:13, 16). The very hairs of your head are numbered (Matt. 10:30). The thoughts you think are all recorded (Psalm 94:11; Job 34:21; Prov. 5:21; Jer. 16:17). God is continually giving to each of us according to what we do (Jer. 17:10; 32:19; Rev. 2:23). He sees every living person when He looks from heaven (Psalm 33:13). He loves those who practice righteousness and glorify Him daily by doing good (Matt. 5:16; Psalm 106:3; 34:15-17). God is continually ruling over mankind (Dan. 4:15-17). Scripture tells us those who think God doesn’t always see or hear them are considered senseless and stupid by the Lord (Psalm 94:8-9). It’s time we begin to live to please God instead of continuing to live to please self. Time is running out on mankind, but to those who live to serve God, time is endless. They shall endure forever (Rev. 2:7; 1 John 2:17). Psalm 69:28 — May they be blotted out of the book of life, and may they not be recorded with the righteous. Psalm 139:13 — For Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst weave me in my mother’s womb. Dan. 12:1 — Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people, will arise. And there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; and at that time your people, everyone who is found written in the book, will be rescued. Dan. 7:10 — A river of fire was flowing and coming out from before Him. Thousands upon thousands were attending Him, and myriads upon myriads were standing before Him. The court sat, and the books were opened. Rev. 20:12 — And the books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things that were written in the books, according to their deeds. Mal. 3:16 — And a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who esteem His name. Ezek. 2:9 — I looked and behold, a hand was extended to me and a scroll was in it. Ex. 32:32-33 — Please blot me out from Thy book which Thou hast written! Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book. Deut. 28:61 — Also every sickness and every plague which, not written in the book of this law, the Lord will bring on you until you are destroyed. Matt. 10:30 — The very hairs of your head are numbered. Psalm 94:11 — The Lord knows the thoughts of man… Job 34:21 — For His eyes are upon the ways of man and He sees all his steps. Prov. 5:21 — For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the Lord and He watches all his paths. Jer. 16:17 — For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face nor is their iniquity concealed from My eyes. Jer. 17:10 — I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds. Jer. 32:19 — God’s eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, giving to everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds. Rev. 2:23 — I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds. Psalm 33:13 — The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men. Psalm 33:18 — Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him… Psalm 34:15-17 — The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and His ears are open to their cry. The face of the Lord is against evildoers, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. The righteous cry and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Psalm 94:8-9 — Pay heed, you senseless among the people; and when will you understand, stupid ones? He who planted the ear, does He not hear? He who formed the eye, does He not see? - Loving Your Neighbor | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Loving Your Neighbor Everyone knows they should love their neighbor as themselves and that it is the second greatest commandment of God (Matt. 22:39). It is called the royal law in God’s word in James 2:8 (Luke 10:27). The whole law of God is fulfilled in this one word, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Gal. 5:14; Rom. 13:9). Many songs have been written about loving your neighbor. “What the world needs now is love sweet love,” go the words of one song. But this is what is not realized by many today—it is physically impossible to love your neighbor with human nature. Man’s inhumanity, towards man, has never been greater. The proof is: Look at the sad shape the world is in today. Everywhere you look, there is violence. What few know or realize is that Jesus Christ came to this earth to show us how to love our neighbor, but with His Spirit within us. It is done through living spiritual lives with God’s Spirit in us and no longer living to the flesh with its evil passions and desires (Gal. 5:24). Jesus came to show us how we could get rid of our old natures by rending our hearts to the Lord and getting rid of the old leaven, which represents sin in our lives, and thus, be able to truly love our neighbors (Joel 2:12-13). This is done by practicing loving service to others, practicing righteousness and charity towards others continually (acts of love—acts of kindness), and living to do only good to others for God and no longer doing evil towards others. We are no longer to live for self, but for others by putting them first, living to be servants of others, and thus, have the peace that comes from doing so (Matt. 23:11). You then have the peace of knowing you’re living like Jesus Christ gave you example to live and as a result, you are at peace with your Maker. As you practice doing good for others daily, God Himself teaches you how to love one another with His Spirit (1 Thess. 4:9). This process of loving others is how we purify our souls for God (1 Peter 1:22). This is the message we have heard from the beginning, that we are to love one another by serving one another from the heart (1 John 3:11; 2 John 4-6). This is how we are truly born again or born of God, and how God’s love is perfected in us (1 John 4:7, 12). This is how we become new creatures or creations (2 Cor. 5:17). This is also how we crucify the flesh with its evil passions and desires and live to the Spirit, which is the Lord (Gal. 5:24; Rom. 8:12-13; 2 Cor. 3:17). Living by your own ways and thinking your own thoughts is not good (Is. 65:2). It seems right, but it is not (Prov. 14:12; 16:25). God never meant for man to direct his own steps (Jer. 10:23). From the very beginning God has told man to live by every word of God and walk in His Ways. We are to live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord (Deut. 8:3). It is God who defines what is good and what is evil (Deut. 1:39). It is God who teaches man the Way he should live and how to love his neighbor as himself (Psalm 32:8; 143:8; Jer. 42:2-3; Eph. 2:10). A time is coming soon when great calamities will happen on this earth to all mankind, and unless those days were cut short, no life would be left on the earth (Matt. 24:21-22; Mark 13:19-20). God prophesied in Deuteronomy 4:3 that all these things would come upon the world in the latter days. People would then begin to return to the Lord and listen to His voice by studying His word for His truth, and begin to put it into practice in their daily lives. You can do so now by following these simple directions. Repent and turn to the Lord by doing acts of kindness daily towards others. Educate yourself with the articles on our website about baptism. Then once you understand the commitment involved in, be baptized as Jesus Christ was, when He was baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River (Matt. 3:13). This baptism represents the death of the old self with its sinful ways and the beginning of a new Way of life—the Way of righteousness—the Way of the Lord (Matt. 21:32; Acts 18:25). Ask God to give you His Holy Spirit and remember, He gives His Spirit only to those who obey Him by living like Him continually (Luke 11:13; Acts 5:32; 1 Peter 1:2; 1 John 1:6-7). You are now on your way. You are ready to love your neighbor as yourself by serving Him daily. Don’t forget, everyone who crosses your path is your neighbor. This Way is easy, pleasant and light (Matt. 11:30). God made sure it would be this way so that even the lowliest of people and uneducated could understand and live it. When calamities come, you may be found worthy and be rescued if and when necessary (Dan. 12:1; Mal. 3:16-17; Luke 21:36 King James Version). Take this precious opportunity and begin today. In these last days, the Lord has made provision for you to come directly to Him and ask Him for His Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13). Now you know how to love your neighbor as yourself, as well as how to show God love by doing so. The next step is yours. Always remember—God is watching us from a distance. - The Mystery of Righteousness and Justice Revealed | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search The Mystery of Righteousness and Justice Revealed “Clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne,” says Psalm 97:2. If we are to understand God, and what He wants from each and every one of us, we must understand what the Bible has to say about righteousness and justice. Once this is fully understood, many mysteries of God’s word are resolved and understood in the extreme simplicity with which God’s word is to be read and understood. Remember, God’s word states that He is hiding the understanding of His word from the wise and the intelligent, but He is revealing it to babes (Matt. 11:25). Righteousness, according to Webster’s New International Dictionary (1948) is characterized by: uprightness or morality; acting in an upright, moral way; virtuous, a righteous person. We can see here, not only the characteristics, which describe God, but also the characteristics of the person whom God would consider righteous in His eyes. According to the same dictionary, justice is: the maintenance or administration of that which is just; just treatment of others; being impartial in your treatment of others; merited reward or punishment due to one’s conduct. Justice then, is anything that is right; injustice is anything that is wrong. Justice is keeping or staying within the law, such as a law-abiding citizen. One who breaks the law then, has caused an injustice. God has laws and all His laws are just. These laws are meant to govern man’s behavior so man knows (is not ignorant of) those laws, and thus, will receive blessings instead of curses from the Lord (Deut. 4:40; 5:29, 32-33). The mystery is and always has been: How do you keep God’s laws? How do you keep God’s covenant (Deut. 7:9)? The key is to walk in all of God’s Ways. This is how you keep all of His commandments (Deut. 10:12). But look, the ancient Israelites were disobedient to God and would not keep His Ways. Because they did not keep God’s Ways, they could not know what God’s Ways were, so they remained unconverted and did not enter God’s rest (Heb. 3:10-11, 18-19; 4:10). Therefore, only by keeping God’s Ways can you truly understand them (John 7:17). If you believe God, then you are obedient to Him. If you do not obey God, your belief becomes unbelief or disobedience. Notice in Exodus 33:13, that Moses asked God to reveal His Ways to him so that he might know God. Knowing God’s Ways is how one knows God, for you cannot know God unless you know His Ways. In Psalm 103:7, it says: “God made known His Ways to Moses, but He only showed His acts to the sons of Israel.” God will remember His covenant forever, which are the words He commanded Abraham to keep. This covenant is to endure on this earth for 1000 generations or 30,000 years—a generation being 30 years (Psalm 105:8-9). When we find out what God commanded Abraham to do, we will also know what God’s Ways were for Moses. Remember, righteousness and justice are the foundation of God’s throne. God told Abraham to command his household and his children to keep His Ways (Gen. 18:19). How was this to be done? This was done by practicing righteousness and justice (which is charity and kindness) towards others at all times. Only if Abraham did this, could God bring upon Abraham all the promises He had spoken to Him. So, Abraham, his children and all of his household (approximately 300 including servants) practiced righteousness for God by practicing righteousness and justice towards each other, as well as towards strangers. Yes, practicing righteousness and justice (charity and kindness) towards our fellowman, is keeping God’s Ways. As you keep His Ways, you continually perfect them in your life. This is how God wants man to repent! Another point that is not known by many is that the Hebrew word for “charity” (tzedaka) is derived from the root word for “justice.” So, practicing righteousness towards others, as well as charity and kindness, is practicing justice. When you practice righteousness towards others, God considers you righteous - just as He is righteous. Can you begin to understand the monumental significance of what is being said in 1 John 3:7? God will consider you righteous (sinless) if you practice righteousness towards all others as God practices righteousness towards all others. “If you won’t practice righteousness for God daily like Jesus did, you remain a son or daughter of the devil,” says 1 John 3:10. Practicing righteousness and justice (charity) towards others continually is true daily repentance. It is a righteous way of life. Not only is this true repentance but it is also how God is glorified, honored, worshiped and shown respect daily. It is also how you imitate God in thought, word and deed (Eph. 5:1; 1 Peter 4:11; Matt. 5:16; Rom. 12:1). Jesus told His true followers that they should beware of practicing their righteousness towards others for reasons of being seen by others, or they would have no reward from the Father (Matt. 6:1). You see, there is a reward from God—a continual reward—for practicing righteousness towards others for Him. By doing so, you become a servant of God—a bondservant of God. This is your new way of life in Christ Jesus. Practicing righteousness, which includes justice and charity, is how you overcome Satan and sin in your life. These are the words, which many millions of people long to hear from the pulpit but almost never do. They wonder: “How can I be pleasing to God?” The answer is simple; just overcome evil by doing good to others for God, if you want to live forever (Psalm 37:27; 1 Peter 3:10-11, 13; Rom. 12:21; Rev. 2:26). You can bring yourself to believe (obey) when all you do is good each day, as Jesus Christ your example did. You then enter the good life, which is the “God” life or the Way God lives in heaven, which is serving others. You can now receive all the blessings that God has waiting to shower on you as you continue to persevere in doing good (1 Peter 3:13). You are showing God, by your actions, that you are seeking honor and glory and immortality and eternal life (Rom. 2:7). This is how God wants you to repent. This is how He wants to be worshiped (Rom. 12:1). God does not change. His everlasting covenant does not change (Heb. 13:8; Mal. 3:6). Change, however, is what He is waiting for you to do. Turn to Him and do His Will on earth as He is doing it in heaven daily (Matt. 6:10). Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Righteousness and justice are also God’s Will or God’s Ways. They are also Jesus Christ’s words and works and when we practice them, we overcome evil (John 8:51; Rev. 2:26). Jesus said to those who would follow Him that they would do more works of righteousness and charity than He did (John 14:12). He also said that they would be zealous for doing good (Titus 2:14). There you have it—the mystery of righteousness and justice revealed. If your eyes are open, you now know how to repent, please the Lord daily, overcome your old nature, become a new creation and enter God’s rest. You have been shown how to love others and keep God’s Ways, by practicing righteousness and justice towards others daily. This is how you keep all the laws of God. Romans 13:8 — Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves [does justice and righteousness to] his neighbor [fellowman] has fulfilled the law. This is the mystery that has been hidden since the foundation of the world and revealed to only a few (Matt. 13:35; Rom. 16:25; Eph. 3:9; Col. 1:26). This is the mystery, which must be revealed by God to His saints (Eph. 3:3). So, a determination must be made in the last days between all those who would serve God by serving others and those who would continue to be God’s adversaries (Mal. 3:18; Psalm 97:3; Matt. 25:41). God bless all who read these words, and prove them to be true in God’s word by studying these Scriptures and thus, show themselves approved to Him! 2 Timothy 2:15; (King James Version) — Therefore, study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that not needeth be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth! - Why Did Jesus Have to Die? | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Why Did Jesus Have to Die? Jesus Christ was sent to this world by God, the Father, to show the world how to live. He was sent to be an example for us of how to please and imitate God daily (Eph. 5:1). All He did while on this earth was serve God by doing God's Will (Matt. 5:16; 4:10). He went about continually doing good (Acts 10:38). At the end, He made the ultimate sacrifice. He laid down His life for the world. He humbled Himself to the point of being tortured, beaten and battered because He stood up for what was right. He knew he had to be the ultimate example. He loved us so much, that He died for us that we would receive forgiveness for our sins, should we repent and live the life He came to show us (1 Peter 1:2). We would also receive His Holy Spirit so we could overcome (Acts 5:32). We are to no longer live disgraceful lives before our Maker, but we are to overcome the evil in our lives by doing good (Rom. 12:21; 1 Peter 3:10-11; Rev. 2:26). For it is written, "Sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law, but under grace (Rom. 6:14). Christ is the propitiation for our sins (1 John 2:2; 4:10). That means, through Jesus Christ we are able to return to God and have a good personal relationship with Him, even though we have sin. Through Jesus Christ's blood, our sins are forgiven. Why does there have to be blood to cover sins? According to the word of God, without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness (Heb. 9:22). Before Jesus, God's people were under the Law of Moses. Whenever they sinned, they had to bring sacrifices to the altar. Once a year, the high priest would take the blood of an animal into the holy place and offer it for himself and for the sins of the people committed in ignorance (Heb. 9:7). Jesus Christ is the better sacrifice, for with the sacrifice of His life, He entered heaven to appear before God for us (Heb. 9:23-24). He didn't need to die a number of times, just once. He put away sin for all time because He showed us, by His actions, that we, too, can overcome sin in our bodies and become brand new creatures who want to serve God by serving others daily (Heb. 2:17-18). We only need to believe the words of Jesus Christ and then act on them daily (John 3:36). - Narrow is the Way | WHOLE WHEAT
wholewheatonline.com Search Narrow is the Way True discipleship is a Way of life. It is not only called the Way, but it is also called the Way of holiness and the Way of righteousness (Matt. 21:32). Sometimes the Way is called a gate or a door (Luke 13:24). Jesus is the door, the bread, the Way, the truth and the life (John 10:9; 6:41, 48; 14:6). The Way is also called the Way of truth (2 Peter 2:2). This truth must be practiced in order to enter the light (John 3:21). The light, then, is the good life and the good life is the God life or the Way that God lives. No wonder true disciples are told to imitate God, speak like God and discipline themselves for the purpose of godliness (Eph. 5:1; 1 Cor. 11:1; 1 Peter 4:11; 1 Tim. 4:7; 6:3; Titus 1:1). We are to walk in Jesus Christ’s steps (1 Peter 2:21; 1 John 2:6). Jesus said that the ones who believed in Him would be doing the same works, and even greater works than He did, because His earthly ministry was cut short (John 14:12). Jesus’ faith had works. When you keep Jesus’ works by doing the same, you overcome the flesh with its evil passions and desires (Gal. 5:24). And if you endure to the end, Jesus Christ will grant you to sit with Him and rule the nations of this earth with a rod of iron (Rev. 2:26; 5:10). Jesus’ Way is easy and pleasant (Matt. 11:30). It is the Way to peace (Luke 1:79; Rom. 3:17). It is the Way of the Lord (Psalm 18:21). We are to walk in the Way or walk in the truth (2 John 4, 6). We are to walk in good works (Eph. 2:10). We are to be careful to engage in good works, for the one who actively, continually does good is of God (Titus 3:8; 1 Peter 2:12; 3 John 11). And the one who will not practice righteousness by doing good is not of God (1 John 3:7, 10, 18). Simple isn’t it? God is sorting out those who will be the doers of the word and those who will remain hearers (James 1:22, 27). The ministers of Christ’s day, called religious Pharisees, would not so much as lift a finger in regard to doing any good for God (Matt. 23:4). They did all their deeds to be noticed by men (Matt. 23:5). True doers of good works for God are cautioned to have the right attitude (Matt. 6:1-6). They are told to pray in secret and give in secret. How far removed from the truth of God many are today! It is a good thing there is a tomorrow, so we can immediately correct the situation. Be a sheep and do not continue to be a goat (Matt. 25:33-46). Do all that you do in good works or good words (cheering up those in hospitals, in nursing homes, or those who are depressed) in the name of Jesus Christ daily, and begin to subject yourself to the righteousness of God (Rom. 10:3). wholewheatonline.com Search The Pearl of Great Price Matthew 13:45-46 The pearl of great price is the knowledge of God’s Will. God’s Will is a mystery and the Lord reveals that mystery to His disciples only and not to the world (Eph. 1:9). God’s Will is the integral part of the message of the kingdom of God, which the Lord is only revealing to a few, those who have been given ears to hear and spiritual eyes to see in God’s word (Matt. 13:11, 16-17). The very proof that God’s Will is a mystery is very simple to demonstrate. How many of those who profess to be disciples of Jesus Christ do God’s Will on this earth daily, just as it is being done by God in heaven (Matt. 6:10)? How would you even know what that Will is, unless it has been revealed to you by God. The Will of God is not only typified as a pearl but also as the keys to the kingdom of heaven (Matt. 16:19). For unless you know the Will, you do not know the Way—if you do not know the Way, you are still religiously deceived, because you have received an incomplete gospel and incomplete message of salvation. This is why an angel of the Lord told the apostles to speak the whole message of this life (Acts 5:20). There were many gospel messages being preached in Jesus Christ's time, just as there are today, but the messages remain incomplete because they are only partial messages. It is because of this missing truth, the pearl of great price, that a person's life cannot change so he or she can become a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17). Then what is this pearl of great price? What is this hidden knowledge that will allow a person to repent and enter the kingdom of heaven within (Luke 13:3, 5; 17:21)? It is the message of righteousness—it is the Way of righteousness (Matt. 21:32; 2 Peter 2:21). It was simply called “The Way” by the followers of Jesus Christ some 2,000 years ago (Acts 18:25; 19:9, 23; 22:4; 24:14). It was a righteous Way of life, doing as much good for others as they possibly could daily. Jesus being their example, they were doing deeds of kindness and charity continually in their daily walk with God (Acts 9:36). Some of them were actually doing greater works of righteousness than Jesus did while He was here on this earth (John 14:12). Jesus had to return to the Father so He could send His Spirit, which would allow His followers to put on new natures and become new creatures in Christ Jesus (John 14:17-18). This powerful Spirit of truth would allow a disciple of Jesus to crush his evil nature with its evil passions and desires and become a new creation (Gal. 5:24; 6:15). The disciples were told that if they continually practiced righteous deeds towards one another, God would build in them a new nature. He would form Jesus' new nature in them (Gal. 4:19). They were not only told to engage in good works daily for repentance, but they were also warned not to get weary in well doing, for in due time they would reap the new natures as well as blessings from the Lord (Titus 3:8; 2 Thess. 3:13; Gal. 6:8-9). This is how we overcome our evil natures (by continually doing good) like Jesus overcame and gave us example of how it’s done (Rom. 12:21; 1 Peter 3:10-11; Eph. 2:10; Rev. 5:5). We are to overcome our evil natures by keeping the deeds that Jesus gave us example to keep, if we are not to be hurt in the second death (Rev. 2:26; 2:11). So the pearl of great price is God’s Will and God’s Will is righteousness—and that righteousness that we are to practice, daily on this earth, is the words that Jesus received from the Father (John 5:19; 8:51). For this is how we enter the kingdom of heaven, when the righteousness comes from our hearts and is no longer hypocritical (Matt. 5:20; 6:1; Eph. 6:6-8). Jesus said His Ways were very easy and pleasant to do (Matt. 11:30). Of course, we will never know unless we put our hands to the plow (which represents doing good works for God for repentance) and force our way into the kingdom within. We cannot look back (Luke 16:16). Hundreds, if not thousands, are now engaged in righteousness daily for God's glory. It is beyond human words to explain this glorious new Way of life. The Way of righteousness is God’s Way of purifying us for Himself, by being zealous for good deeds for the Lord (Titus 2:7, 14; Col. 3:17). Don't be a goat any longer but a sheep. Be a doer not a hearer. We are all saved by grace, so we should no longer live a disgraceful life before our Maker, but imitate His Way of life daily (Eph. 5:1). - Truly Believing in God | WHOLE WHEAT
Truly Believing in God On the surface, it looks as though all you have to say is, “I believe,” and you will be saved. But notice, the apostles taught the people all the things they were commanded to teach and observe. For three years, Christ taught them what they should teach and taught them how to be teachers. The apostles were taught that to believe is to obey. The apostles were also taught how to obey. You must keep Christ’s words in order to never see death, Jesus says. His words are not hard to keep or burdensome. “If you believe in Me, the works that I do you shall do also,” Jesus said. What kind of works did Jesus do? He did good works and He instructed His disciples to do the same. Yes, doing good works is how you glorify the Father. The Bible says that the devil and his demons believe, but they do not obey. They are not doers of the word, but merely hearers who remain deluded. So, to say you believe, is to say you obey and are doing the deeds that Jesus did by serving others daily for the glory of God. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 Teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20 A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher. Luke 6:40 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. John 3:36 Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he will never see death. John 8:51 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. John 14:12 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. 22 You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected.
