- "You automatically do good / righteousness" | Misconceptions VS. Truth
"You automatically do good / righteousness" MISCONCEPTION: When you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and believe in Him, you will just automatically do these works of righteousness as a result of your belief or faith. THE TRUTH IS: The Apostle Paul instructed his ministers to constantly remind people to engage in a life of doing good works for God (Titus 3:8), and this is something they would have to learn to do (Titus 3:14; Is. 1:16-20). The very reason God instructed His people to get together is to provoke one another to more love and good deeds (Heb. 10:24). The word provoke here means to go against your nature. The Apostle Paul had to discipline himself daily for the purpose of godliness so he wouldn’t be a hypocrite (1 Cor. 9:27; 1 Tim. 4:7). Does this sound like it comes naturally, or was the Apostle Paul fighting the good fight of faith by fighting his evil human nature and resisting Satan daily (1 Tim. 1:18)? - How to Be Complete in Christ | Daily Grains
How to Be Complete in Christ What does the Apostle Paul mean when He tells us to be "complete"? A person who is complete has perfect love coming from a pure heart and a good conscience. He is constantly showing God’s love to others by his actions. An incomplete person lives in fear of doing wrong. He is constantly at odds with his nature. He wants to do one thing, but God’s word says to do something else. A person who is not yet complete is in the process of realizing, like Paul, that nothing good dwells in him and that he must be set free from his evil nature. As long as you are fighting the good fight, overcoming evil by doing good, and practicing righteousness in your daily life to please God, you are abiding in Jesus Christ. You are not walking according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Your body is alive to righteousness because you are daily putting to death the deeds of the body and living to the Spirit by practicing righteousness. Yes, there will be some suffering involved in this process, but it is only a little. When you are complete, you will walk in perfect love with no fear inside. God will have perfected your faith as a result of your works. Your life will radiate peace. Your mind will be at peace. Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. 2 Corinthians 13:11 But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1 Timothy 1:5 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. 19 For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. Romans 7:18-19 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 1 John 4:15-16 For if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. Romans 8:13 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. 1 John 4:18 You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected. James 2:22 He must turn away from evil and do good; He must seek peace and pursue it. 1 Peter 3:11 PREV NEXT Click below for full Bible Study: What Does Complete Mean?
- ADORE: A Woman to Woman Article | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search ADORE: A Woman to Woman Article Advice for marriages—new and old: Show your husband he has authority in your life. Show him respect. If he is not a leader, remember that this is a new role for him to perform in his life for God. Help him by showing him with godly actions (1 Peter 3:1). Don’t be a continual test on your life-long partner, but lovingly and willingly put yourself under his control, just as you are doing for Jesus Christ each day. Being a leader does not come naturally, but it is a responsibility men must learn to fulfill for God. Always keep in mind that everything you do for your husband, you are doing for God. Many who marry out of love, immediately become their spouse’s adversary. This should not be. You, as women, are to hold up your end as the perfect example, and be an inspiration for your husband. Do things for your husband that you know will please him. Plan ahead. Put him first in everything you do. Never, never, never insist on your own way. Live only to please or be pleasing to your husband. Do not correct your husband. If he makes a statement, never take the opposite point of view; but rather, be diplomatic, kind and understanding. Guard the door of your mouth and don’t let just anything pour forth (Psalm 141:3). Control yourself—control your emotions—control your mouth. A big mouth lets every thought fly forth, whether it be good or evil. Practice having a quiet mouth and be a woman of few, meaningful, godly words (Prov. 31:26). God’s word says the more you talk, the greater the chance that evil will come out of your mouth (Prov. 10:19). Never forget that. Never allow yourself to harbor hurt feelings or resentments of any kind. Maintain a totally compassionate heart that is full of love for God. Matthew 6:12 says: “Forgive us our trespasses [faults and sins], as we forgive those who trespass against us [minute by minute, day by day]” (Matt. 6:14-15). Organize your life. Just as the husband must learn to be the leader of the household, the wife must learn to be neat and tidy. A man loves to come home to greet his lovely wife in a lovely setting. Prepare for your husband’s arrival. Stop living a life filled with excuses. Don’t allow yourself to greet him with your hair a mess or unpresentable in any way. Let him know he was blessed when he married you, instead of giving him the chance to regret it. When two young people get married, they normally have a lot of bad habits they drag along with them into the marriage. An example of this would be leaving unclean clothes strewn all over. Let’s face it, many young people live like pigs and their rooms are like a pig sty. Organize your life. Pick up after your husband and never complain. Never expect appreciation or recognition for what you do for him. That’s evil. Do what you do for the Lord. He sees; He repays; He rewards (Matt. 5:16). Respect your husband; respect your neighbor; respect yourself. And, respect God and His word which tell you how to live, so you may live long, happy, full lives. Respect means to show honor. Try not to say or do any wrong to your husband or to anyone—ever. Try not to speak wrong of anyone—ever. Show honor and respect to your relatives and parents. Be kind to all; show love to all; do good to all; say good of all. Pure love does not keep track of evil done against itself by others (1 Cor. 13:5; 16:14; Titus 2:7). Enjoy each other; live to please each other to glorify God. Totally give yourself to each other sexually, as God intended when you are married. You belong to him and he belongs to you - you are now one flesh (Matt. 19:6). Be of the attitude: “What is your pleasure?” or, “How may I please you?” as long as it is within God’s will (Prov. 5:18-19). Take time for each other. Take time to cuddle with each other; kiss each other; touch each other. Walk together; talk together; have fun together. This is the whole purpose for your relationship. How you treat your husband is how you treat yourself. Whatever you do will eventually come back to you (Gal. 6:7; Prov. 11:25; 12:14). If you are living selfishly, you will never see or be aware of your problems or faults. You will come across as a holy martyr, when it is really your evil ways returning to you as a curse. Prepare yourself to suffer for doing what is right (1 Peter 3:17). You were called for this very purpose, so Christ’s nature can be manifested in you (Gal. 4:19). Shape up; grow up and be spiritually mature. Then you will experience real joy—lasting joy. Jesus came that your joy may be made full (John 15:11). That happens when you are fully conformed to God’s Ways and leave your old ways behind (2 Cor. 13:11). The name of this article is “ADORE.” When you adore your husband in these ways, you are showing adoration towards the Lord and His Ways. This is how to please the Lord every day. You are also helping to create a marriage that is an example for others to follow, and you are helping your husband be the best he can be. Through your continual love and patience, he will find the strength to endure, and with a loving wife like you, it will be much easier to overcome those difficult areas in his life. Together with the Lord’s help, you can both make it! PREV NEXT 3 SIMPLE STEPS TO GET STARTED MORE BIBLE STUDIES PODCASTS HOME All About the Bible PDF © 2025 Whole Wheat International
- How to Get out of a Mess | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search How to Get out of a Mess A mess is generally made up of many parts. The first thing to do is realize that you are part of it and whatever part you are, makes little difference. Messes are the result of sins, and the good life is the result of righteousness. If you want a mess, continue to sin. If you want the good life, then start being good by doing good (Rom. 12:21; 1 Peter 3:10-11). It is the only way to solve your problems. Now, if you do good for anyone, except God, you will get puffed-up and think you are a pretty nice person and that again is sin. God says your righteousness, if not done to please God, is as a flithy rag or as the original Hebrew text says, dirty menstrual cloth (Is. 64:6). Since Jesus Christ said He was not good, and yet all He did was good, it would be blasphemy for us to think of ourselves as good, except through Jesus Christ (Luke 18:19; 24:19; Acts 10:38; John 21:25). Paul understood this, because he said, "I am convinced that there is no good thing in me" (Rom. 7:18; 8:1). Now, there are some other directions to follow. You have got to care to get there, and you must start to finish. You must keep your eye upon the goal. You must persevere to win your soul (Luke 21:19). The more good you do, the better you will feel. The better you feel, the more good you will do. It is an endless glory race, that makes you wear a happy face. Jesus said it is easy, pleasant and rewarding (Matt. 11:30; 6:33). Jesus Christ wants you to come to Him (Matt. 11:28-29; 2 Tim. 2:7). This is why He came. Will you study His word daily so He can teach you? Will you live to please God every day, in all that you think, do and say? If you do, He will please you and bless all you do, and answer your prayers when you pray. God can help you get out of the mess you are in, if you will obey Him and live for Him daily. - How to Be Successful in Life | Daily Grains
How to Be Successful in Life Success in life is knowing Jesus Christ. Success in life is knowing God’s Ways. We are successful in life when we persevere in doing what is right, for the glory of God. Success in life is abiding in Christ. Success in life is entering the kingdom of heaven, which is within us. These principles of success are the key to riches and honor and eternal life. Yes, Jesus Christ - our Lord and Master - came to show us how to be servants of others on a one-to-one basis, so we can be truly successful for God’s glory. Remember, if the righteous are scarcely saved, what is going to happen to those who will not obey the gospel of Jesus Christ? For without holiness, which comes as a result of practicing righteousness, no one will see the Lord. Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Luke 17:21, (KJV) To those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life. Romans 2:7 And if it is with difficulty that the righteous is saved, what will become of the godless man and the sinner? 1 Peter 4:18 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. - Happiness Is... | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search Happiness Is... Just as there is only one truth, there also is only one happiness. True happiness comes from a warm relationship with God. Abraham, Noah, Daniel and a host of other people have had this true happiness in the past. What is true happiness? Happiness is: * Finding the true purpose for your existence (Eph. 2:10). * Knowing God's Will and then performing it daily in your life (Matt. 6:10; 7:21; Luke 8:21; 1 John 2:17; 1 Peter 2:15; 4:2, 6; Col. 1:10). * Having the attitude of a servant toward others at all times as Jesus Christ, our Savior and example, did (Rom. 15:2-3; 1 Cor. 10:24; Matt. 20:26-28; 23:11). * Having the knowledge of the truth - God's word - and being set free from all religious deception, with its satanic tentacles that grip the earth (John 8:31-32; Rev. 12:9). * Being set free from all pagan religious traditions of men that make the worship of Jesus Christ in vain (Mark 7:7). * Receiving answered prayer because you are constantly doing God's Will and are pleasing in His sight (1 John 3:22; John 9:31). * Hating what is evil and loving what is good (Psalm 45:7; 97:10). * Hating worldliness and the things that war against the Spirit, such as dirty movies and magazines, swearing, lying, stealing, lusting, drunkenness, etc., for these things are not pleasing to God (Rom. 8:13; Gal. 5:18-20). * Always being patient toward others (1 Thess. 5:14; 2 Tim. 2:24; James 5:8; 1 Cor. 13:4). * Always forgiving others and not holding any bitterness toward them (Matt. 6:14-15; Eph. 4:31). * Always living to please God within your marriage and having happy and obedient children (1 Cor. 7:2-5; Prov. 22:6). * Always having peace and not letting those who have no peace take yours (Rom. 14:19; Psalm 34:14). * Always having faith in Christ Jesus that He will supply all your needs after you have done God's Will, and knowing that all will go right for the righteous (Is. 3:10, Matt. 6:25-33). * Going to God and His word for the truth, instead of to books written by men, which are a great source of religious confusion (Eccl. 12:12). * Keeping life simple by keeping it pure (1 Thess. 4:11; Phil. 4:8; Matt. 5:8). * Having the trusting attitude of a child toward the Lord at all times (Matt. 18:3, Psalm 131:1-2). * Learning who Jesus Christ really is by studying God's word, instead of believing what man says He is (2 Tim. 2:15). * Studying God's word for the answers to all of life's problems and questions (2 Tim. 3:16-17). * Wearing out your Bible for God by reading it every day and highlighting the Scriptures (Acts 17:11). In conclusion, true happiness is knowing God's Ways and putting them into action in your daily life. This is the only way to be a friend of God. Remember always, Jesus Christ is God and we must keep only His words in order to be truly happy and never see death (John 8:51). - Be of One Mind in Christ | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search Be of One Mind in Christ God in heaven is making new creatures in Christ (Gal. 6:15). He is doing this by creating Jesus Christ’s nature in us (Gal. 4:19). In order to do this, we must undergo testing (1 Peter 5:10; 4:1, 12, 16, 19; 2 Cor. 4:10). Some tests will be more severe than others, but the Lord assures us we can handle these tests (1 Cor. 10:13). We will be tested in our morals. We will be tested in our loyalty and faithfulness. Above all, God wants us to be of one mind in Christ. In order to cause us to be of one mind, God allows Satan to stir up strife, opposition, dissension, factions, controversies, enmities, jealousy, anger and disputes among those who will give in to such things. When practiced, these evil things will keep you from inheriting the kingdom of God and eternal life (Gal. 5:19-21). God must find out who will participate in these things so He can root them up from among those He is testing (1 John 2:19; 1 Cor. 11:18-19; Jude 1:16). This is how we are perfected by God into being one-minded in Christ Jesus (Phil 1:27; 2:2). We are to separate ourselves from the world and all that entangles it (2 Cor. 6:16-18; Heb. 12:1; Rev. 18:4). God warns us not to be filled with dissipation, which is the wasteful expenditure of time, or the day of the Lord will come upon us as a trap (Luke 21:34)! We are to draw near to God and His Ways and away from the things of the world (James 4:8; John 15:19). Anything in this world that stirs up strife, confusion, factions, anger and disputes we are not to participate in as these are the deeds of the flesh (Gal. 5:19-21). We are to pursue holiness, according to God because without holiness no one will see the Lord (Heb. 12:14). We are to seek peace and pursue it earnestly (1 Pet. 3:11). We are to be wholly devoted, allowing God’s Ways to direct our lives (1 Kings 8:61; Jer. 10:23; Prov. 16:9). We are to speak as though they were the utterances of God, as we go about imitating Him (1 Pet. 4:11; Eph. 5:1). His opinion becomes our opinion, because in the end, His opinion is the only one that matters. After all, He is our Creator and knows all. We will stand before Him, and only Him, on judgement day to give an account for our lives (Rev. 20:12; Rom. 14:12). Certainly, it is possible that those who participated in dissension, factions, controversies and disputes, might later on repent. But God is not going to give eternal life to those who cause divisions and dissensions, like Satan did so many years ago (Jude 1:19). God must root them out. It is God’s way of finding out who will remain loyal to God’s Word (Prov. 21:21). Satan was not loyal to God. He thought he could do God’s job better. He found fault with the way God was doing things. He thought he knew more than His Maker and Teacher. God teaches His ministers and then sends them out saying, “The person who accepts you accepts Me” (Matt. 10:40). Jesus was accepted by few and rejected by many. The same was true of His ministers. This is a test of whether or not you will be true to God Almighty. If you reject the one God sent to tell you the truth, you have rejected Jesus Christ (Luke 10:16). This is what God’s word, which cannot lie, says! The only exception to this is if that person stops living for God and falls away from the faith (1 Cor. 11:1). People who fall away from God’s one true faith and give in to Satan, flunk the test. It’s as simple and plain as that. That’s why God’s word warns us to take notice of (mark) those who are causing divisions and avoid them (Rom. 16:17). These people deceive other people by their smooth speech and the unsuspecting, dumb or foolish ones go after them (Rom. 16:18). That’s why God’s word commands that there be no division—none, not one. God wants those who are His perfectly joined together with the very same mind—that mind which was in Jesus Christ our Lord (1 Cor. 1:10). Jesus Christ says, “Every minister which My Father did not plant or appoint will be rooted up” (Matt. 15:13-14). They will bring upon themselves swift destruction from the Lord if they don’t or won’t repent (2 Peter 2:1). Be very careful who you are listening to, be careful with what you are watching and what you devote your time to (Matt. 6:22-23; Psalm 101:3). Ask yourself, is this in agreement with God and His Ways? Does this promote holiness in my life? Be loyal, be faithful and endure to the end, loving others with one mind, one goal and one aim—to please the Lord Jesus Christ in all areas of our lives and daily walk with Him (Phil. 1:27; Eph. 4:4-6). God is not fooling around and we shouldn’t be either. Justifying one’s actions might work now, but it won’t work on judgment day. Loyalty to God’s Word and the one who preaches His truth is loyalty to God Himself (Matt. 24:45-51). Make your mind up to be of one mind with God. Imitate Him in all your ways to be pleasing to Him in all respects (2 Cor. 5:9; 3 John 1:11; John 8:29) . There is no time to lose! - Sickness, Pain and Godly Character | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search Sickness, Pain and Godly Character Many people do not realize that God not only inflicted sickness on people who were sinners in the past, but He also uses sickness and pain to build righteous character in those He is calling and working with today. Consider Job, Daniel, Jonah, Elijah and others who suffered and endured in the past for our example (James 5:10-11). Paul and Timothy were sick to the point of death (2 Cor. 1:8-9). God was teaching them that they should not trust in themselves but in God, who raises the dead. Paul said God comforted them in their affliction to give them experience so they could comfort others who would be going through the same afflictions (1 Peter 4:12). Paul called it "the sufferings of Christ" and he had them in abundance (2 Cor. 1:5). The fiery ordeal that disciples of Jesus Christ go through at times can, and often does, include sickness (1 Peter 4:12). Notice, these are called the sufferings of Christ and we are to share in them (1 Peter 4:13). Did Jesus Christ suffer? You bet, He did! Jesus was a man of sorrows. He suffered. He had grief. Isaiah 53:2 and Luke 4:23 show that He was sickly and had a lot of pain. Anyone who does the Will of God will suffer, for through much suffering you must enter the kingdom (Acts 14:22). You are suffering according to the Will of God (1 Peter 4:19). There are many forms of suffering we may experience. We can suffer through pain, through sickness, through relationships with others and persecution. Anyone who lives as God lives will suffer persecution, as Christ did (2 Tim. 3:12). No matter what kind of suffering you endure, you are only going to have to suffer a little while, according to 1 Peter 5:10. Yes, our suffering has a purpose. We learn obedience to God through suffering and we will be made perfect, like Christ, when we suffer as Christ did (Heb. 5:8-9). We are perfected through suffering and we will be glorified with Christ if, indeed, we suffer with Him (Heb. 2:10; Rom. 8:17-18). We can have hope knowing God has a plan for these things and that they will be for our benefit and growth. He promises that all things work together for good to those who love Him (Rom. 8:28). - Are You Convicted? | Bible Studies
wholewheatonline.com Search Are You Convicted? Jesus was a fully convicted person. He lived only to please the Father, by being a servant of others in love. Jesus Christ, as well as many of the apostles, gladly laid down their lives for the brethren because He was fully convicted (John 10:11, 15). As we look into the meaning of conviction, we will begin to see that it is conversion. To be in a fully converted state one must be in a fully convicted state of mind—one that is not "carried away by every wind of doctrine," as God’s word puts it (Eph. 4:14). Study to show yourself approved to God—be a person who needs not be ashamed and who handles the word of God accurately (2 Tim. 2:15). The reason for studying your Bible is so that you become fully convicted by it, and thus become fully converted in the process. If you are continually in God’s word, you are continually being convicted by its words, which are true (Heb. 6:18). Have you ever wondered why there are no collection plates spoken of in the Bible? There is no mention of weekly collections made by the apostles for the support of the apostles or for a building fund. However, there is mention of a collection for the poor saints in Jerusalem, which consisted of money, food, and clothing (1 Cor. 16:1-4). It shouldn’t even need to be said that every last cent collected went to the needy in Jerusalem and not to the apostles for salaries. Then how were the apostles supported? How, for that matter, was Jesus supported? Jesus had responsibilities. He had to teach the twelve apostles how to live. He also taught them all the words He heard from the Father. All this took over three years. He was constantly helping others, showing His disciples the “Way.” He also had to support His mother and His four brothers and His sisters, because He was the eldest. “Isn't this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James, Joses, Judas and Simon? Aren't His sisters here with us?” (Mark 6:3). He had a home, and with every home comes expenses (Mark 2:1). How, then, was Jesus supported? Simple: He was supported by those who were fully convicted. He was supported by people such as Joanna, the wife of Chuza, King Herod’s right hand man. Susanna and many others were contributing to the support of Jesus and the twelve disciples out of their own private funds (Luke 8:3). These women were helping to support them out of their own means. When you are convicted, you simply continually act on your conviction. This, then, is the only Scripture in the New Testament that reveals how Jesus and the apostles were supported. Notice the “many others” mentioned in that Scripture. That was many hundreds of others. How would one know that? First of all, the only people mentioned here by name are women. So it looks like women could have taken the lead in their support. Now consider this. If you were to train twelve men, and feed, clothe and lodge them over a three year period, how much would you need? If you were to take care of your very own mother and your four brothers and two or more sisters over a three year period, how much would you need? One thing is for sure, it wouldn’t be a little. So Jesus and the apostles were simply supported by those people who were convicted, right? Surely there were many who never began to live the new life, called the Way of righteousness. Also, many did not take the message of the truth to heart. Some probably were zealous at first, but when they began to be persecuted by others for living this Way, they fell away as it is mentioned in Matthew 13:20-21. Also, there had to be those who wouldn’t prove all that they heard, by looking it up in the Scriptures like the Bereans did (Acts 17:11). So they remained hearers of the word and were never convicted, and they never became converted to God (James 1:22). One definition of faith is “that which is believed.” But how can you believe unless your Spirit has been convicted? Now to strengthen the Spirit, we all need to be continually fed from God’s word, to prove all things and hold fast with conviction those things which we know and have proven to be true. That is solid faith! That is unwavering faith! Many are going to fall away from the faith because of lack of conviction. Their faith, as a result, will be weakened and continue to be weakened by their continued lack of conviction. Studying God’s word daily and continuing to do acts of kindness and charity daily will keep your conviction strong. The answered prayers you will continue to receive, along with healings and miracles, will keep your conviction strong. If you cannot convince another of the truth from God’s word, you are still not convicted yourself. The message is quite simple, so you can see many are simply not convicted yet. When a person hears a vacuum cleaner salesman give his convicting story, many are convicted enough to buy the vacuum immediately. Their conviction in the product automatically gave them faith in the salesperson. They were sold! This is exactly what happens when Jesus preached the truth from God’s word. People believed Him and, as a result of that belief or faith, many were healed (Luke 8:48). Many, however, did not continue in that truth by putting Jesus’ words into daily practice. They forgot His words. As a result, they lost their belief, their faith and their conviction. Those, however, who immediately put their hands to the plow and didn’t look back, continued to feed their conviction and fortified it with daily Bible study, good works and prayer. They kept learning, so they kept growing. As they were continually convicted by their reading, they automatically began to bring these convictions forward into their daily walk with God. When these new convictions were put into practice and thoroughly tested, they became fully convicted because they proved God’s word was right after all. One area where God wants you to test Him is in giving. Notice what the Lord says in Malachi 3:10: “...test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” The people who were convicted by the truth and began to live it gave money to the poor or needy (Acts 10:2; 9:36). They also supported Jesus Christ. Jesus took that support money and at times gave to the poor. “For some were supposing, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus was saying to him 'Buy the things we have need of for the feast,' or else, that he should give something to the poor" (John 13:29). Conviction, then, is not only faith but faithfulness. What would have happened if people were not faithful to Jesus Christ in supporting the truth and getting it out to others who were being called into the faith to be saved? Well that didn’t happen because they stayed convicted, and as a result, they remained faithful to God’s harvest.
