Make Your Ways Straight

Make Your Ways Straight

There are many different expressions in the Bible instructing believers to walk with singleness of mind, singleness of eye or singleness of heart.  Hebrews 12:13 commands, "Make straight paths for your feet."  Making straight paths for your feet is walking in righteousness at all times - continually. To always walk in righteousness is to always please the Lord.  To always please the Lord we must constantly remember to please Him with our thoughts, words and deeds (Col. 1:10).  We must refrain from sin and engage in those things that are good, edifying, honorable and profitable for others (Titus 3:8).

Walking with singleness of mind and heart is being intent on serving and pleasing only God (Matt. 6:24).  He is number one in your life, in your heart and in your mind.   You must make Him number one in your actions.  Psalm 106:3 says, "How blessed are those who practice righteousness at all times."

God will do good to those who are good, but you cannot be good unless you do good for God daily, in secret (Psalm 125:4; 37:27; Matt: 5:16).  You must not do your good because you want people to know of the good you do for others (Matt. 6:1).

To make your ways straight, then, please the Lord in all you do.  Seek God by doing good to please Him.  Turn away from a life of sin to a life of righteousness (Rom. 12:21).  This is the way of peace (Luke 1:79).  It is also the way to prosperity, blessings, answered prayer, joy and every good thing (Prov. 13:21; 1 John 3:22; Heb. 13:21).

So do not deprive yourself of the good life with the free gift of eternal life that comes from living a godly life.  It is the life Jesus Christ lived, and He came to show us how easy and pleasant it is (Matt. 11:30).  You will soon be a new you, if to His Ways you remain true (Gal. 6:15; Col. 3:10, 12-17).
